Other Super League clubs don't appear to want to cut their academies. Most odd when you consider that championship sides London and Newcastle run academies.
How many of you referred to (to quote Harry) "the Good Doc" as Cashcow or Koolcash when he was at Salford? Don't make me trawl back through the archives to embarrass you all now you can't wait for him to plough his *billions into your club

I will "fess up", used to call him "Car - Crash" but would welcome his input if he was sharing the financial burden with Derek Beaumont & it gave Leigh real buying power & influence.
TBF to MK, in his interview he came across as very humble & sounded like he has learned from experience.
If you want to go back 5 years, and think it's relevant, It's HERE in brief.
I don't think the Salford Academy thing is relevant. SL clubs need to promote the game to youngsters and they all do this via their "Foundations" Inc. Salford......
As we can see with academy re-organisation the RFL want less academies with a higher level of skilled youngsters to up the standards on the pitch.
As we saw with Salford's academy days, local talent used to go from Salford to top clubs academies like Wigan and Leeds. Players like Evalds didn't but if there had been no Salford academy he'd have gone to Wigan.
Not a stick to beat Koucash with, notwithstanding all rich owners should be welcomed, and should be allowed to spend there money as they like when they like.

How's his plan going to having a club from Liverpool playing in League 1? Is this the same Mr Koukash who cut the Salford Red Devils academy for financial reasons?
Sorry I am late with a reply, Firstly, I had a look over on TRL forums and I was not dissapointed in the least with the kind if reactions I expected to read, 90% of them were of a negative nature, i.e. what about Cumbria, what about Liverpool, what about Bradford, what about Salford Academy, how rich is Dr. Koukash really, he and Deggsy will fall out, I honestly find it all very tedious. These comments seem to be percolating up from those who seemingly who are wary of what it could do for Leigh to have the opportunity of two people with an ability to invest in the team/club to match any in the League, it is also very evident that there is a lot of jealousy attached to a lot of the comments. I wish people would just come out and say "Leigh are not worthy of this, they are after all just a small town club" someone even said, he (The Doc) should go to Newcastle or York his money would be better spent there, Geez. As for me, I have been involved with the Leigh club for well over half a century, I know our natural place in the order of merit it sits somewhere between 10th and 14th of all the clubs, so if with the good Docs arrival and he along with Mr Beaumont can shove us a bit higher up the pecking order for a few years then I am all for it, BUT we will have to wait and see if it actually happens or has many would wish it is all just hot air. I honestly do not care who it upsets, or who if it transpires Leigh could possibly replace in the top echelon, just like all the SL Chairmen didn't care, even the rich ones like your own Mr Davy, or Leneghan, or McManus, or Pearson, or Caddick et al who thought that individually witholding a paltry £50K each and pocketing it themselve for their clubs from the central funding was a good idea, they knew the consequences it would have for Leigh, but hey it's only Leigh. As I say I will be overjoyed if the Doc joins my club and I won't be upset with whoever's toes we step on, if he doesn't come then I will settle back in the manner I have become accustomed to over the years for a very long, and just dream what could have been.

You won't embarrass me Slim, I always thought Dr. KOUKASH was good for the game, like our own Mr BEAUMONT, a spade is a spade, it's not a shovel or a dust pan, a spade and they say it how they see it, I thought he had a raw deal at Salford, but as he admits to he was nieve and on reflection thought he knew more than he did, I honestly thought his biggest ever mistake was his first decision in employing Brian Noblel apart who apart from his inherited team and tactics coach Elliott at Bradford his record every where else is dismal, and no more do than at Salford, if he had employed someone with more nounce than "I can talk talk a good game Noble" things may have turned out very differently for your club.
I actually have a lot of time for Salford and I have been many times when they didn't clash with Leigh and especially moreso when Mr Beaumont and The Doc had the reciprocal agreement of allowing season ticket holders from the other club in for £10, I was definitely on Salford's side who ever they played cheering and moaning as the aspects of the game unfolded, so if there is one exception to your "embarass you all" I am him.
How has the new stadium affected Salford attendances ? Up or down ? I personally ,as Wire fan, think it is easier to get to but a nightmare to get off ,but it does look better than the Willows. My last memory of there was when a Salford fan set fire to the scoreboard....nobody seemed bothered & the game carried on. I wonder if they even phoned the fire brigade ?
