They seem to be using the words mitigating circumstances a lot at the moment. Surely accidental contact due to the momentum one the player ie player not in total control of a tackle that combines multiple peoples momentum, is that not a mitigating circumstance. In a tough game foul play intentional attempts to injury or hurt cannot be tolerated but the physical nature of the game means accidents and unfortunate injuries will occur. Initially think the protocol needs to change to initially a yellow card being given with the option of increasing to a red card after further video review that takes place within the 10min period would be better that the initial straight red if there is uncertainty. Red card in Wire v Hull game effectively ruined a closely contested game. How many times will this happen this season?
