| Was that on the Footy show Dally?
I'd play 75% at Kogorah and 25% at WIN. The gong doesn't draw the crowds they can get at Kogorah.

NRL on Fox mate.
the ceo of the dragons has said if they dont replace the main grand stand at the gong they will lose all their games
as a saints fan i love the new kogarah but its hard for illawarra to lose out.
if theyd done it properly then youd have kicked out cronulla and left saints where they are and illawarra on their own

| heres a summary of the gallop interview :
1. on 2 refs - said its been a success and said that eventually it would have to be applied to internationals after this year as the game is too fast for 1 ref.
2. on TV rights deal - said they were looking at the moment on how to maximise future TV revenues with a report by experts being completed.
3. on when expansion would be considered - pretty much said he would look to expansion after the next TV deal was finalised
4. on central coast bears - agreed central coast was very important and the bears would be right in the mix
5. on perth and adelaide - in positive news for perth talked them up, saying junior numbers were up 30% in the past year
6. on the $8 million offer for clubs to relocate - said it could be quite a bit higher depending on where the club would move too
7. that brisbane getting the nrl Grand final was a distinct possibility
8. would the nrl allow for bidding for the grand final - possibily replied gallop
9. on would the fact AFL expanded to gold coast affect the nrls expansion plans - said it would, which i took to mean another queensland nrl team was higher on the agenda
summary - provided the next TV deal is a good one, central coast are a certainty in an expanded competition, with either perth or another nrl team in queensland the other

| before when hes been asked about perth hes said its too soon etc etc.
now when he was asked he straight away talked up the growth in juniors.
when asked about adelaide his nose practically wrinkled.
he did say AFL going to gold coast would impact how we would expand.
the way i took it, central coast are favourites next time, with perth up there as well, and potentially another queensland nrl side.
when asked when we would expand hed say after the next tv deal well look at it
expansion is certainly on the agenda now.
happy days

3. on when expansion would be considered - pretty much said he would look to expansion after the next TV deal was finalised
That's an improvement on previous statements
4. on central coast bears - agreed central coast was very important and the bears would be right in the mix
No surprise, easy option
5. on perth and adelaide - in positive news for perth talked them up, saying junior numbers were up 30% in the past year
At long last! No idea why people keep talking about Adelaide though a s the SARL or anyone else has not come out and said they will bid
6. on the $8 million offer for clubs to relocate - said it could be quite a bit higher depending on where the club would move too
First I have heard that is to move anywhere other than the CC?
9. on would the fact AFL expanded to gold coast affect the nrls expansion plans - said it would, which i took to mean another queensland nrl team was higher on the agenda
Why? How will having a struggling AFL GC team affect RL prominence in Brisbane?
summary - provided the next TV deal is a good one, central coast are a certainty in an expanded competition, with either perth or another nrl team in queensland the other'"
Thanks

| jb he said they would look at various places if clubs wanted to move there, not just CC.
so clearly perth is one of those, and queensland.
and he said it could well be worth more than the initial $8 million offered.
ive heard about this before.
michael searle is part of a group looking at the issue of expansion and the incentives offered.
it looks like what rooster booster was saying about perth were right all along.
if AFL go 2 clubs in queensland well clearly RL needs more.
the bit gallop said about expansion was we would provided of course we got good tv deals.
hes worred about the existing clubs and will only expand if they are safe.

off topic i know but on AFl expansion. is the proposed team in western sydney ever likely to work or even happen. or is the AFL over estimating the support it has in NSW/Queensland?

theyve got a lot of money to burn.
if they put millions behind it, you never know
but it could also fail and also take down the swans and lions as well as it splits their fan base
its a big risk
but they are certainly backing themselves

| AFL has a fair bit of support up here, but its a couple of years away still, giving the Titans still more time to surge ahead. Its amazing the amount of coverage in the media the Titans get,and it seems like every other car has a Titans sticker in it,plus all the little kids in their replica jerseys.Micheal Searle seems to be a good leader for the Titans, their community work is spread far and wide, down into the Northern rivers to Coffs harbour. The junior sides are all going well, packed with young lads from GC,and Nothern NSW.Palm-beach Currumbin high have recently won the national comp and will supply a steady stream of youngsters.
AFL are being pretty pro-active as you would expect up here though, looks like they are gonna throw big bucks, and the Gold Coast mayor, former olympian Ron Clarke has made no secret of the fact he is a big AFL fan.The Qld government is goona spend a lot of money refurbishing Carrara
I dont think AFL will impact too much on the Titans,
Really would love to see RL go back to Perth now and make a go of it.Probably Central Coast after that, then either Adelaide or second teamfrom NZ further down the line.
