SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
well a contradiction yes indeed it is here to stay. for now was a sarcastic quip to end the line. owing to the fact that its a shocking idea and will no doubt be abandoned when the RFL realise what damage it will do to the lower leagues look at the NFL what happend to their lower leagues? look at the super 14, and the drain on local talent and fans
all this does is show a team followed by fair weather supporters to me. surely if you love the game you'd want to watch the best teams at the top level even if your team are awful. not bailing out because the game has as they see it no purpose. should we just call them off them to save the players getting injured in a pointless contest. people talking crap.
crusaders have 0 points so far and i still travel 332miles round trip to watch thier home games when i can. 2 out of the 3 shedualed so far. quins on easter monday.
Add into the "won't be relegated" category, Celtic Crusaders and Catalans and it doesn't leave many that could be relegated. It is all just a paper exercise though as it is obvious that SL will probably go to 16 teams in 2011 with one of Widnes or Halifax plus probably Toulouse.
After that, who knows? I suspect there would be no change until they have have groomed a Scottish or Irish club for entry in about 2014 at the earliest.
Meanwhile you will get clubs with no chance whatsoever in the Championship wasting money year upon year chasing the dream and fans getting more and more disillusioned and packing in rugby league.
I don't think you'll be far wrong there but I think Toulouse will be definately in. I think next time round one team will be relegated (the RFL will need to show they've got the balls to relegate underperforming clubs otherwise the whole process becomes a farce).
In addition to Toulouse, Widnes or Leigh will likely be promoted both clubs being passed over last time for the flimsiest or reasons.
After that though, existing SL clubs will have had at least 6 years worth of Sky money to enhance themselves so it appears to become much harder for teams outside of SL to get themselves in a position to compete.
The obvious exception being an expansion club with a multi millionaire backer who is prepared to pump millions into a club for 3 years on the chance that they might get selected to SL. Now what self respecting millionaire is going to pump millions into a new venture like this without some assurance of a return.

In case you didn't notice, Toulouse is being groomed for a place in Super League.
Also, Wakefield's inability to get a Super League standard stadium will likely doom its reapplication bid in 2011.
Leigh has been deemed redundant by the new head of Sports England.
My guess is that in 2011 we will be informed that Wakefield have beeen relegated, and new licences have been granted to Toulouse, Widnes, and either Sheffield or Doncaster.
2014 may well see serious consideration of a second London club bid, as well as Newcastle/Gateshead, a Scottish club, an Irish club, Paris and Barcelona.
Those of the above not successful, or not considered, in 2014, are likely to be considered in 2017.

the point of my original post is that what would be the point in relegating anyone? you'll just have for example the salford/celtic 2011 squad bar a few exceptions playing in a 2012, widness/leigh/tolouse strip as they'd all be released on the teams relegation and be looking for a club granted the cream of the squad will to snapped up by other teams but the journeyman players will be looking to the new team for a job

Dead right , it would be crazy to drop any club as it would probably completely destroy that club , It's one thing awarding a SL place 3 months before , but an entirely different thing taking one away with 3 months of the season left , with no prospect of getting back for at least 3 years but more likely ever

Several of the clubs, especially Wakefield and Castleford, were given licenses on a kind of informal probabtion. Richard Lewis warned clubs that they had to satisfy certain explicit criteria, including an adequate stadium, if they were to have their licenses renewed. Wakefield will fail the stadium criterion, and possibly other criteria, in 2011. This will ease the west Yorkshire saturation of the Super League roster, and make room for some new, commercially attractive expansion clubs, like Toulouse, Sheffield/Doncaster, Newcastle/Gateshead, East London etc. in 2011 and subsequent years.
