Seriously.....it's all well and good when you have Sky HD, but we need to get the BBC to spend more time on the CC. Get rid of JDavis.....keep Balding and find a comentator who doesn't sound like he keeps pigeons or whippets.

I think we are both in the same mind set though mate, I want it to be shown on the BBC but I want them to cover us properly, both on TV and on their Website. You can have a Challenge Cup match on the BBC and no one will know about it due to their lack of promotion, and their viewing figures are only probably double what sky get......

I'm just i'm a bit more upto the point I think well if they can't fix it they should have to fight for it mindset.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

The BBC will NEVER cover RL properly and as far as I'm concerned they damage the image of the game and the sooner we're shot of them the better!

Would they fight for it though?

More likely they would save the money and just bid more for the Six Nations coverage.

Hmm

RL needs to be on the BBC, simple as that, without it we get no national coverage (do sky even have enough sports subscribers to make up the loss in CC viewing figures?)

However I do agree that their coverage is utterly mediocre - and it can only be for the simple fact they dont value RL or that maybe the RFL should take into account production values when giving out the contracts

(take less money for a guarantee that the production, advertising and presentation will be of the very highest standards - you know, like they do for all other A class events...)

On the other hand, sky's presentation is also mickey poor and an embarrasement to RL

The vast majority of people don't have Sky/cable and for many it's not an option as they simply can't afford it.
For this reason alone rugby league should always have a presence on terrestrial television. Rather than debating the quality of Sky and the BBC's coverage I'd be more worried about the lack of interest in bidding for the rights to rugby league. Only one out of the four terrestrial companies have shown an interest.

Might be down to the fact that ALL TV companies are run by oxbridge types who have no concept of what is REALLY entertaining.
The Boat Race, which let's face it, is a few tarquins in a canoe, is treated like it's the pinnacle of sport. The Grand National is the ONLY day that 99% of the people who bet on it, actually place a bet all year and Wimbledon is a farce.
catch 22 really......
I can assure you, the visit of Manly to Harlequins was touted to every media available in London and the response was.......sorry, it's not soccer. If it wasn't for the public schooling of most editors and journos down here, Union wouldn't get a look in either.
My choice would be C5. They don't ever take something on board without really having a go at it. ITV would do what they have done with Union and stick it on ITV 78......and C4 would only show it if it was played on a desert island, by mixed teams all naked!
The BBC are a bunch of Tarquins who, if they lose the 6 nations, will soon all be out of work, because let's face it, apart from Top Gear....what else are they good for?

Joint 2nd with the Union World Cup final now

I agree that C5 would a very good place, they always get in people who know what they're on about.
