Newsnight 13th May 2010: "With the role of Deputy Prime Minister a non-job. Has Nick Clegg gone from King Maker to tea maker????"

I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew
Between the wars

He is a Wigan lad playing for our biggest rivals and was a top player, so he took some stick. It was a compliment though as a previous poster said, only top players get this treatment. Gary Connolly took much more abuse from Saints fans which again was treated as a compliment.
We don't however boo any player, every time he touches the ball, while playing for England or Great Britain.

Nor did we wish him away to the NRL or RU!

And neither would any Lancastrian.

Didn't confuse Leeds fans though, much to your eternal shame.

Its ironic as he is a Wigan born person.People can say what they like about him,I think he was quality.

Difference being nobody at Saints wanted to see Connolly go,and certainly not to Wigan, wereas Wigan wanted shut of Long and he got shipped out of the Piedome pronto, and hardly any Wiganers blinked an eyelid. It was only 2/3 years later Wigan relised they'd made a major mistake.

Sean Long burned his bridges badly at Wigan, if you think differently then you are very much wide of the mark.

His knee injury that put paid to his wigan career was not sustained on the training field or playing pitch.

Ahh,that's what your assuming i meant when one of the reasons he was got shot of was because of his off the field activitys.

Anyway, your mistake was certainly our gain!

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

So just because Saints fans didn't want Connolly to leave, it was ok too boo him when he did? Even though Connolly himself didn't want to leave Saints. :)
