Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it! |

This is great news ON ITS OWN without all the bollax about SL. Why anyone would want to go into SL in its current form is beyond me. Go and look on the Cas, Salford, London, Widnes forums. Nothing but misery - go and have a look. Then look on the Bradford forum - it puts a massive cherry on the crapcake that is SL. Well done Featherstone. Keep building, keep growing - however slight. One day your time and that of other clubs in The Championship will come.

Featherstones ground is big enough now to cope with super league before the new build,why it managed to accomadate the mighty cas and the woeful wigan easily enough

I don't doubt the quality of the top half of SL by the way. There are some great clubs up there and I'm still entertained by many matches on TV but to my mind there's some real dross in it. There's about 5 clubs that shouldn't be there but there's no other clubs of better quality to replace them.

Echo what's been said here. It's all well and good Fev/Fax redevolping the ground and consistently winning silverware, but can't see them 'crowding' SL with further M62 teams Sad really, but they want a national game and that's that. Personally I think P&L (with more realistic salary caps for the 2nd division) and may the best team win!

In 2006, SL was 1.6m, NL1 was 400k. The step up meant clubs releasing a lot of the players who'd got them promoted to fill them with 'SL' calibre players who cost more. Conversely clubs who'd go down would release the whole squad and buy in NL players who'd accept the wage structure. The gulf needs to be reduced, but to a standard that SL & the (now) Championship can afford if we are to bring back P&R
