No, the naive and easily pleased would feel vindicated.

Only idiots with the benefits of hindsight would look back on a failure and feel their cynicism vindicated.

If it comes to pass that Crusaders fail, it still doesnt mean it was wrong to try.

Amen.

Only the dead lie still.

They've already failed. They weren't awarded a SL franchise on the basis of being located in North Wales, not too many miles down the road from Widnes.

Depends on what you are classing as 'success' or 'failure' really. I think as a focal point for some wonderful work going on at grass roots level, and increasing the visibility of the game in Wales they have been a resounding success.

Whether they can continue to do that and become a successful equal partner in super league offering a pathway for young welsh players improving the development of the welsh national side remains to be seen.

As far as gauging the potential in the South West, I'd have thought the rumoured Wembley international double-header at the end of the season would be good way to do this.

They were awarded a SL franchise on the basis of being an expansion team in an area which is a hotbed of "rugby" (South Wales) that could hopefully be tapped into. They are now located in an area which is not. That is otherwise known as a resounding failure. They need to be terminated ASAP and the RFL need to wake up before incurring further financial losses through misplaced bail-outs.

Wales as a viable national RL entity died when Rugby Union became a professional sport. Having a SL side in Wrexham (North Wales) which is based just down the road from Widnes won't alter that.

I got news for you ( keith ) neither the RL nor the IRL agrees with you and neither do the Welsh Rugby League

IF you do want to educate yourself on one of Britain's fastest growing development area for RL, have a deckko at these websites...and its just the tip of the iceberg

No, they werent. The RFL havent incurred a loss, they have loaned them money.

Its got a damn sight better chance than not having any welsh representation. Look at the growth in the game since the advent of crusaders. It has been massive.

What in particular and how is it quantified?

Are we talking about kids playing the sport?

If so, what are the before and after figures?
