Lots of righteous indignation on show this evening.

They just got on with it back in the day.

I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

I don't think he 'hit him', they collided while chasing the kick. And regardless, I'm not sure what Hohaia was expecting to happen by attacking a 17 stone prop from behind and trying to cheap shot him with a forearm smash to the jaw. Absolutely no sympathy, he fully deserved to be knocked out. Again, if the roles were reversed and Hohaia was the bigger man then he would have knocked Flower out cold and probably broken his jaw. Obviously Hohaia didn't deserve to be punched on the ground, but the intent was there from both men, both should have been sent off and Flower shouldn't be singled out just because he's the bigger and stronger of the two.

To reconcile respect with practicality, what is the optimum speed for a hearse?

On that basis Flower deserved to be knocked out by Hohaia's elbow.

Flower knocking him over in the first place kicked it all off

Hohaia reacted to a swinging arm to the back of the head by Flower when the kick went up....watch the highlights.

All of this which will tarnish our game for months was started and finished by Ben Flower.

Firstly you can't press charges for an offence on a rugby pitch, stop being stupid.

Secondly as I said I'm not trying to justify or allay any guilt, just trying to find out what happened. Bored on the train on the way back init.

I do apologize for the late reply but I think I would reserve judgment on the 'stop being stupid' comment till you do a little research( I've got better things to do than cite chapter and verse legal presidence for actually being ABLE to do exactly what i suggested Lance should do)but as i have said I am not here to do your homework for you.I would feel stupid if I had been a tadge premature calling others stupid .Engage brain before mouth runs away <sound advice.
Oh and that old nutmeg "just trying to find out what happened" equivocation doesnt wash, now that does make you look silly.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Yes he did, so if somebody hit you from behind, how would you react?

No excuses

Flower was shoving him out of the way, it was a collision while chasing a kick, the sort of thing that happens all the time and wouldn't even result in a second look normally. You're painting Flower as the bad guy because of what happened afterwards, the initial incident was just part of the game, Hohaia chasing after Flower to smash him in the jaw definitely wasn't.
