Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

Is unreasonable to think we could sell out a few non England games ? Games at Craven Park, Leigh, Salford and The Shay could be sold out if all RL fans got behind the tournament. Some of the tickets going for less then a tenner and big discounts for group bookings.

Really want to see this tournament a success its our chance to show RL is long from being dead in this country.
Wales vs Cook Islands is more or less sold out.

Having a quick look at total attendances at previous world cups it would seem we are close to improving on the total attendance in the 2008 world cup down under.

Still think we should be looking to smash that though seen as this seems to be the most well thought out International Tournament in a long while.

I have no doubts that the games at Craven Park will be sell outs. Once the regular season is over, I expect a rush of ticket sales.

Hope so, the offer of two games for £15 is a bargain.

Agree. And on top of that, it's the grand opening of our brand new stand that i'm sure people would like to sample. Keys get handed over week after next.

For each ticket purchased for the games at MS3 Craven Park using code SGF, RLWC2013 will donate £5.00 to the foundation.

In full
Rugby League World Cup 2013 (RLWC2013) is coming and you have an opportunity to buy tickets to one of the biggest sporting events in the UK this year, and to make a huge difference to children in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as the Rugby Football League works in conjunction with the Stanley Gene Foundation to help change lives.

On Sunday 27 October, Hull will host its very first RLWC2013 game as PNG take on France at the home of Hull Kingston Rovers – MS3 Craven Park, kick off at 4.00pm.

The same venue also stages the game between PNG and Samoa on Monday 4 November, kick off at 8.00pm.
Hull is a hotbed of rugby league, with some very strong links to PNG. None more so than being the adopted city of former PNG rugby league star and ex-Hull Kingston Rovers & Hull FC player Stanley Gene.

Stanley recognises the invaluable contribution rugby league and Hull has made to his life in the UK, so much so that he’s set up his own foundation to help people back home in his native PNG.

The Stanley Gene Foundation is committed to reaching the unreachable communities of PNG and educating young Papua New Guineans in order to give them the tools to make a better future for themselves.

RLWC2013 has witnessed the work of the Stanley Gene Foundation and the results they’re achieving and they have very kindly created Hull’s own special promotional code for both of the games at MS3 Craven Park.

The code is SGF.

For each ticket purchased for the games at MS3 Craven Park using code SGF, RLWC2013 will donate £5.00 to the foundation.

Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.rlwc2013.com/ or by calling the ticket hotline 0844 847 2013 – but remember to use or quote the code SGF.
Thank you for your support.

Kind regards
The Stanley Gene Foundation

Stole this off another forum but Chris Irvine and Phil Caplan have stated on Twitter following RLWC2013 briefing today that the Lower bowl at Cardiff virtually sold out, 40k+ sold for final, turnover will exceed £15m & financial objectives will be met. Workington, Rochdale & Avignon heading for sell-outs/big crowds. Neath, Hull KR & Halifax going very well too. More tickets sold outside traditional areas than in!

good stuff, the only slight concern for me is the lack of news and buzz about the England games at Huddersfield and Hull. They still haven't even opened up the full lower bowls of either ground as yet. Hopefully sales will pick up once the SL season ends, and obviously an England win against the Aussies in Cardiff will get tickets flying!

I think the Huddersfield game is selling pretty well, the entire lower bowl seems to be open but they just haven't updated the website for some reason. If the Hull forum is anything to go by, the Fiji game will be lucky to get 10k because it seems like the people of Hull would rather sit at home and complain about somehow being 'shafted' despite being the only city to receive three (strong) matches.
