Good marketing then? Wish they were doing it every week and getting over 10k.

Yet this sort of thing is applauded when the likes of Saracens do it in Union inflating the averages on a much bigger scale?

yes but when they do it should just be applauded  . Not to forget the fairytale of them turning a profit by doing it and renting out wembley, but in the long run it should help marketing the game so id have no problem with it.

It should be applauded in union and league as it is a great marketing tactic. I'm just wondering why Mr Eve does not consider HKR's attendance as 'positive and genuine' just because it is filled with freebies (for a one off game).

You could always do what certain football teams do and if you buy a league season ticket you also have to purchase tickets for cup games Pretty mean.

I'd rather clubs added on £20/£30 for a season ticket and you get in all cup games for nowt

I wish everyone would read bramleyrhino's post two or three times just to get it through some thick skulls

Mr bramleyrhino speaks a lot of sense.

Under that system, you'd be pretty miffed if you we are London fan paying £30 for a ticket that you probably couldn't use (unless you were forking out for flights and the rest).

I'd rather clubs just put their efforts into making CC ties into events that are actually worth attending.

I went to one of the all Super League ties yesterday, expecting a moderately competitive match. Unfortunately, it was clear from the start that one of those teams had absolutely no intention of making the event worthy of the £20 admission.

We aren't talking about an SL v C1 mismatch here. We are talking about two teams that are supposedly peers - on a level that is at least competitive, if not equal. If Wakefield had even tried yesterday then I imagine the 4,400 that did show up wouldn't have felt so ripped off.

And the number of people around town who had no idea that there was a game on suggests that Wakefield's marketing activity is bang on-song as well.

Point of order. Nobody applauds it, they simply point out that the union chaps are very good at that sort of thing. It also poses the question AGAIN, as to why an insecure section of RL fans need to comment on the bigger but slower code in a thread about poor challenge cup attendances.

If it works then it should rightly be applauded.
Fingers crossed it works for HKR,if it doesn't then hopefully its Hudgell and co who will cover the losses unlike other SL clubs who had to go cap in hand to the governing body for financial help

then why are you (and your alter ego W. eve) so unwilling to praise Hull KR for the same thing?

Where have I commented on HKR's attendance/marketing? I think the only thing I've said is that they'll come close to getting the 10k average this year. I have no issue with cheap/free tickets if they are part of a documented strategy designed to getting averages up
