I'd prefer as many people as possible got to watch games, as much money as possible was made out of those games and the games were played in thebest stadiums. Each to their own. Mind you I have no doubts if your secheduling had been done you'd have been whinging about England only playing on the M62 corridor and only attracting 25000, Wales playing in a run down stadium in front of 7000 and numerous comparisons to the "might" of International RU.

ticket prices are such that they are not designed to generate the profit....that has been done by selling the hosting rights to people like the Cardiff stadium owners.

England should play all their games in the heartlands........I just don't agree with some of the other selections for venues.

As for international Union....lol....why drag it into the debate? England will play Australia, Argentina and the AB's at Twickenham in November and in all probability generate more revenue from those 3 games than the entire RL world cup.........perception and perspective JB......you need to get both

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Mon Sep 16, 2013 6:05 am
There's valid arguments for ( at least ) two attitudes to stadium selection.

One says that there's no harm in going for the biggest you can - why throw away potential ticket revenue from people who can't get a ticket?

The other argument is that the game's image is hurt by the sight of large swathes of empty seats, and so pick stadia such that, say, you're targeting a 20 percent over subscription to each. This option is of course harder on fans, who are effectively being deliberately denied seats for the sake of the game's image.

Despite that, my concern is the game's wider future and I'm firmly in the 'fill every stadium' camp. Some will be full, sure, but those in the media who genuinely do have an 'agenda' will make sure everyone sees the empty seats. Heaven forbid any serious sections of empty seats at the final ( though I'm hopeful that'll be OK). I don't believe for one minute that anyone who can be bothered to make 100's of posts here has an 'agenda' against RL - they just have a different opinion to yours. What someone thinks about the running of the game doesn't reflect what they think about the game itself.

I don't see how Wales playing in a shed at Neath would give a better image than 25,000 or so at their national stadium. I simply don't.

I have full confidence that this tournament won't have the disastrous opening as the 2000 one with Ireland/Samoa played out on TV with John Inverdale extracting the urine throughout thanks to the weather and crowd. (Willie Poching's goal kicking adding to the farce.)

They were talking on Saturday of a potential sell-out for the final before the tournament kicks off. Interest will grow as we get closer.

I don't see a problem with the cheap tickets. The prices will attract those who've never been to a game before because it's not a gamble the cost isn't worth it.

So 50,000 tickets priced at 20-99 pound isn't going to make a profit?

Knew you couldn't resist!

Fully agreed! GF says play Eng/OZ at Hudda, this will be sold out and make RL a ticket in demand as people can't get hold of tickets. But we've been all selling out the Galpharm/DW/ and Kc for years. This hasn't had the effect he says it will.

Fact is Eng/OZ at galpharm screams small time to me. With it been held at MM it actually looks and feels like an actual event. When we played OZ at wembley, there were only 45k there, but it looked a million times better than it ever has done at the above stadiums

 The fact that England v IRELAND at Hudds is very probably going to sell out says all you need to know about the fact we should be taking England v AUSTRALIA to a bigger stadium.

Does the 100DAYS code not work for final tickets or is it on certain prices or anything? Applied fine for a couple of the other games but doesn't seem to be working for the final?
