This series is looking very much on the money. I know people are now back seat driving and in hindsight suggesting that we should be aiming even bigger. But it's not like we've actually sold these venues out weeks in advance.

With still a few hundred left to sell for tomorrow, in say a 40,000 seater we'd be saying there are going to be alot of empty seats on show.
30,000 at Hull in the heartlands, is quite different to say 40,000 or 50,000 in a weaker base of RL support.

It's a good turn out and I've just got my tickets for Wigan, but if we want to move to bigger stadia, I'd suggest taking it step by step as we all know people both in and out of RL are quick to jump on any perceived failings. A few people not being able to book this year will certainly help to generate that impulse for people to book earlier next year.

RU managed to sell France v Romania at the Olympic park and got 50k there. When we can fill 50,000 ahead of the game day, then we can start talking about moving games to bigger venues.

Agree with this. I think some people are getting carried away. I think the powers that be have recognised the importance of having a presence in London which is great, and the Olympic Stadium is an ideal base for us there. It's significantly smaller than Wembley but still a national stadium.

I'd be tempted to maybe try and use somewhere like the Etihad in addition to the Olympic Stadium. I think bigger stadiums draw a bigger crowd but there's definitely a limit to that draw and we shouldn't get carried away. This has to be a gradual process. Getting our games on the BBC and a game at a national stadium in London are 2 excellent moves but we can't move too quickly yet. We have to build and establish ourselves and that takes time.

One good thing about moving to the Etihad is the transport links to the stadium. With the trams going right outside & coming from the three major train stations in the city, they're much easier to get to for fans travelling from the other side of the pennines.

I like the sound of the Etihad being included with a London test and AN other club ground.I think we could sell these out if it was a 3 test series against Australia.

Yep.
I hope Wigan and Hull fans don't take this the wrong way because it isn't meant as a criticism, but I'm really not that bothered about going to the KC or DW. Simply because I've been there regularly and they're relatively small.

I would be a lot more tempted to go to the Etihad and the same goes for any major stadium like that. It's also still easy reach for RL fans so it means people don't have 2 expensive trips down to London.

Exactly. It feels more of an event. And the fact that the magic weekend has been away from the Etihad for a bit and it has since been improved as a ground it would hold a lot of appeal to RL fans for an international imo.

It's a shame Elland Road isn't better because ideally you'd want the Etihad as the Lancashire venue, Leeds as Yorkshire and London as expansion.

On another note I heard several Geordie accents at the KC on Sunday and some in Whitley Bay RL gear, so hopefully the magic weekend has done some good up there, and Newcastle becomes an option for an England game at some point. All 3 RU World Cup games sold out up there, but being the nearest ground to Scotland helped it.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

We also have to remember this is prime football season, so the chances of getting a soccer ground are slim.

Olympic Stadium, Etihad Stadium and Elland Rd should be the three grounds on rotation in my opinion. Elland Rd is a hell hole but I think we ought to stage a Test in Leeds. How many sold for Olympic Stadium this week?

Haven't seen an update but tickets are now on sale for the upper tier away from the cameras which is a sign they are confident of selling it out, still greyed out on the picture on the ticket website though but you can click on the blocks now.

Good sign that it's now all open for sale (crazy that it's still marked as unavailable on the site though).

Doubt it will all sell but we'll hopefully get on the right side of 45,000.
