What, even if it helps to prevent and even solve crimes? (which it quite obviously could)

Get over yourself, I'm pretty sure they won't have employed someone just to make 2-3 twitter posts a day.

This is Wigan all over - they've dragged the game through the mud for several years now thanks to Michael Maguire's grubby attitude, and Shaun Wane carries on that fine tradition; win at all costs, play the game with reckless disregard for your fellow professionals and do absolutely anything to achieve even a minor competitive edge.

Flower went out with orders to take out Saints only hb, and a dangerous cocktail of being both too fired up and thick as two short planks has resulted in one of the most sickening acts of thuggery ever seen on a pro RL field; in two seconds of madness, he lost Wigan the GF, ensured that every neutral instantly started rooting for Saints, and brought more negative publicity on the game than Bradford, Gareth Hock and Zak Hardaker combined.

Shaun Wane must be a proud man this morning.

Utter garbage. You have proof of all this do you? People need to get a grip and move on.

Sorry to be patronising, but just think about how it may be useful for a Police force to reach as many people in the community as possible, or do think we should go back to the local bobby on a push bike.

What any of this has to do with Flower punching a player defencless on the floor is anyones guess though.

That'll do it.

Ha ha ha now that's an hysterical over reaction.

He showed flower off the ball and got knocked out for it.

Get a grip pal you're a moderator.

Re: Ben Flower : Sun Oct 12, 2014 12:02 pm
The best bit about this is the justification of Wigan fans trying to claim its somehow Hohaia's fault. We all agree on the second punch that is was a disgrace.

Let's get this straight, he looks at Flower and turns around to start running back. Flower runs up and clobbers him.

I have posted the picture earlier in this thread and here's the shot before where Flower lifts his arm and draws it back before moving it into Hohaia's head:

Image

There is no need for his arm to be there, never mind to make contact with Hohaia's head. He clobbers him, knocking Hohaia in front of him and pushes him to the floor to carry on running.

Let's get this straight:
* Could Flower have carried on running his line? Yes, he was stood at the side of him.
* Has Flower any need to lift his arm to that height or angle? No, he could have carried on running past Hohaia.
* If Flower doesn't make contact, Hohaia doesn't come running in and the resulting punches don't take place.

For me:
* Flower should have a charge for striking Hohaia in back play
* Hohaia should be charged for retaliating and striking with the forearm but will probably get off with EGP.
* Flower should be up for that second punch.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Doesn't look like a swinging arm to me, just looks like Hohaia changed direction into Flower's path and Flower collided with him. There wasn't much else he could do at that range. If I thougt he'd punched him I'd condemn it, just like I've condemned what he ended up doing to Lance. Do you think Lance was wrong to forearm Flower in the jaw?

Yes.

Said last night for me it was two yellows and a red. Yellow for the shot by flower to the head. Yellow for lance to retaliate. Red for the finish him blow.

wtf has it to do with you anyway, fortunately for the UK you've gone to Aus.

My opinion is an opinion, the Police have no place commenting on sports events, unless they are intending to take action.

Correct, it wasn't, it was a cynical act by Hohaia to watch Flower's run and deliberately block him.

Rubbish. Hohaia tried to block Flower and failed. Flower banged him out the way - aggressively, yes, but nothing particularly outrageous - and Hohaia didn't like it. Flower doesn't give him a second glance and when he takes the forearm to the face I'd be amazed if he knew who it was or why it had happened.

That must be ok then. Are forearms to the face legal?

Point 1 - he does look at Flower but Flower has time to run around him given he's started running and Hohaia hasn't. Hohaia turns and is facing the opposite way so any form of striking is totally unexpected. There is CATEGORICALLY no need for Flower to even lift his arm outwards? Explain why there is a need to stick your arm out at a 90 degree angle away from your body.

If someone is in your way you push them in the back and Hohaia is sent sprawling forwards - not sidewards. You seem to be under the misguided interpretation that, like headhunter, that I'm claiming Flower comes in like a tank. He does clobber him with contact to the head. It's unnecessary and is a penalty offence. I wonder if your reaction had been the same if say, LMS had come in and smacked Matty Smith in the back of the head.

Hohaia retaliates. If it was a simple push, as you claim, why did Hohaia retaliate? You have yet to explain or justify the arm angle or Hohaia's reaction.

As for your last comment, yes - because that's what I said. It seems you're going to any lengths to twist comments or try and make out like I am defending Hohaia.

Let's get this perfectly straight: I have no allegiances, I wasn't rooting for anyone and I'm not anti-Wigan. I'm saying what I saw (and others too by the looks of it) - Flower starts it unnecessarily, Hohaia retaliates, Flower ends it disgracefully.

Hardaker called a referee, in a viciously aggressive manner, a "****ing faggot". The circumstances are of course entirely different to last night's horror show, but no one in their right mind, or maybe a subset of Leeds fans, still thinks that the 5 game ban for that and conducting an investigation when he clearly appeared to do a similar thing again a few weeks later, were anything other than justified.

What the feck has zac hardaker got to do with any of this, why even mention it, as for the comment "he clearly appeared to a simpler thing" we know he didn't hence no charges were made.

This insident is not even comparable. It was a sickening attack and I don't think people are exaggerating when they are saying it's the worst thing they have ever seen on an RL field, the last thing I saw this bad was Paul Moriarty, smashing Hugh Waddell's jaw in 89-90. Probably les Boyd before that.

Life ban would be exesive and would probably be restraint of trade, but as I have said earlier 10-12 games minumen. Certainly more than Cassidy got for the flying elbow on Morley.
