We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Give me Petone Panthers v University in front of 100 ..........it's not about the product, it's about the way its marketed :FRUSRATED:

FFS.......you lot really don't get it. 400k over 24 games and a TV audience of 2 million on the BBC and an England win won't change a friggin' thing......the game as it's run in the UK looks, smells and tastes like an amateur northern pastime....delude yourselves all you like, but the reality is that come Feb 1st 2014 RL in the UK will reap no benefit from RLWC 2013.....it's up there with curling after the scots won a medal a few years back.....

I think once again you have proven that it is you who does not get it. The RLWC is not about RL in the UK reaping some sudden benefit. Where you seriously expecting this tournement to turn around our position in the the grand scheme of things.

It was that blind marketing principle that nearly ruined RL the last time the World Cup was on our shores.

Do you think Marks & Spencer wander around all day bemoaning that they are not Apple. No they concern themselves with their own business, to make profits and grow their business.

That is what we should be doing and in this world cup hopefully we will. A World cup with more spectators, more profits will do me nicely. If you were expecting a world cup were millions are thrown at advertising, leading to slightly larger crowds, a marginal increase in press and a huge debt after the marketing budget eats all the profits. Well that would be a basket case.

It does not look or smell like anything in the slightest. You seem to be going epileptic, about nothing. You are demanding things that where never going to be and never could be given our current position.
By all mean carry on being depressed that we are not another sport, personally I watch lots of them. They really don't have this obsession with crowd counting. Cricket is a great example, lots of internationals never sell out. But do they get all cheesed off over it. No. Because they are not comparing themselves constantly, they are more concerned with growing their game and making it profitable.

You should be ok there are plenty of tickets left for plenty of matches. Australia v.s Fiji at Langtree park has plenty of tickets remaining.

You may struggle to get any tickets for Ireland v.s Fiji though. What games you thinking of attending?

Being more of a RLWC fan / Internationalist than a Kanagaroos fan I'm actually hoping to see more games with the lesser known teams than those of the Big 3 - which i know i will see in the finals ( barring some major upsets !)

On the 'hope to get to' front the games are : Ireland v Fiji; England V Ireland; Scotland v USA, Australia v Ireland. Cook Islands V USA in Bristol pretty much planned as staying there a few days as well.

Dependent on time / travel plans (and most importantly funds !!!) perhaps a few more games.

Really looking forward to meeting local League fans and exchanging ideas on the current state and future of a game that we all love to support regardless of our location.

Plus also genuinely curious to find opinions on why the game struggled to expand outside the North and in particular the M62 corridor. (Never understood that - must be a strong cultural thing. :( )

Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

They've borrowed the union calculator for the Americas cup?

I wonder if union fans are ashamed and embarrassed that their RUWC is a pale comparison to the football World Cup? I pity you gutters if you are not a union troll, your the only RL fan on here who isn't genuinely excited by the rlwc and by the big stride forwards we seem to be making for int RL through the tournament. The int game has been struggling since 2000 but this could well be the rebirth of int RL if fans get behind it and England perform. What's not to be excited about?

They will have almost 2 years to shift close to 3 million tickets.....how close do you reckon they'll get? I'd suggest they'll get closer % wise than the RLWC 2013 will get to the 500k figure.....
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-2424134/Jevans-says-World-Cup-ticket-prices-kick-times-confirmed-November.html
I was first branded a Union troll for suggesting that RL could learn from the IRB/RFU and I stand by that.......even more so given that Twickenham will see close to 320k fans for 3 internationals and a Barbarians match this year.....and the RLWC 2013 organisers would see that many fans at 24 games as a success

Thanks for those links - But they don't actually answer the question in any way.

Once again, it's a genuine question - Do other governing bodies give exact updates in terms of tickets sold?

Mmmm........not sure what you mean by this comment ?

I'd like to think a common interest in a sport we all want to see prosper on various levels would be enough to form some kind of kinship amongst like minded fans.

My Semi Final tickets came yesterday, can't wait :D. Gonna buy tickets to a few more when I get paid. I like the spectator guide which came with the tickets too, despite it not being the Irwell on the maps of Old Trafford and Salford City Stadium - typical, can't get anything right ;)
