Yeah we had a player with a similar CV called Anthony Tupou and no he wasn’t - you’re so easy.
Yep, the highest paid player in our history of our club, quite obviously diluting the quality around him with what we was able to spend. When he came over he was still one of the top second row forwards in the NRL and it was noted that he had offers on the table from several NRL clubs at the time, having watched him that season I thought we was on to a real winner. He was solid enough at times and you could tell the effort was there, but never really made any sort of an impact, in the end he struggled to keep up with the rest of the team.
On paper this is a great signing but we know that it does not always work like that, for Merrin`s wage they could probably have got 3 Craig Kopczak type players, not going to set the world alight yet are a good standard and they are not then putting all there eggs in one basket.
Hurrell and Merrin strengthen Leeds a lot, I don`t think you will find anyone that will disagree with that, but it is a long season and injuries so very easily happen in this game, take those two players out of that team and with the departures already announced and the rumoured departures they could be in for another disappointing season.
If I was a Leeds fan I would be hoping for a good few more in comings and I think the actual Leeds fans on here (SKS is clearly not a Leeds fan) realise that, we know as the season draws closer it is going to become more and more difficult to find the quality they want.
