| It's not just the number but the quality - or lack of it - among the imports which is depressing.

With the salary cap and the exchange rate what do you expect?

Really? Strange how such poor quality players managed to beat Leeds home and away this season.

| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"You could have said/ probably did say the same when announcing signings of Kirk Netherton, Chas I'Anson, Ryan Esders, Frankie Mariano, Scott Spaven, Lee Gomersall, James Haynes etc. Clubs have to have a certain number of homegrown players on the books under the franchise rules. Cheerleading Rovers meeting these minimum requirements as a sign of a brave new world of Rovers' squad being built around a nucleus of homegrown players is getting a bit giddy in this context.'"
Yeah, like no other club has trumped up the signings from the youth ranks they've made this season.
Would you like the statistics or are you going to present us with another graph?

| The Hurricane - Who's that in your profile picture?
Over the past couple of years when you talk of Saints you think of Gidley, Wigan you speak of Leuluai or Feka, Warrington it's Matt King or the Andersons, Bradford have Orford, Beaver...etc.
Fact is these imports are making our SL competition a better competition. Jake Webster was an international who self admittedly dropped in form before playing here, as stated Galea and Newton made the dream team in 2009 while Dobson has made the team two years running along with an Albert Goldthorpe medal from 2009.
Ben Fisher came up from the national leagues with us, Mick Vella has been our club captain since our promotion and has made a big impact not just at first team level. Mick also has an Australia cap and a very big reputation back in the NRL.
Mason I dont think anyone could question this signing, he is a marketing mans dream and he puts in the performances too. Green I accept isn't the biggest of signings and the proof most certainly will be in the pudding but English half backs price themselves out of the market for the quality you get from them. English players' work ethic is much lower than that of their NRL counterparts, youngsters in Oz are stronger, fitter and at a better standard sooner than most English kids. Blame the weather if we must but who trains in an outdoor gym?
Morgan I believe works on a cream will always rise to the top basis. If an English player (i.e. Liam Watts, Kris Welham, Scott Taylor) is good enough they will get a spot in the team. If they are not better than what we can get in under the salary cap and within the rules then why settle for a worse squad than you need to?
Why dont you go and ask players like Tomkins, Myler, Welham, Eastmond...etc who they learnt their stuff from, I bet most of them will name an Aussie or NZ player in that list. Most of the imports improve our youngsters and this is why I dont think there is a problem with clubs doing what Rovers are. Just like I have no problem with Warrington over stepping the salary cap (oooppss here come the Wire fans!!!) because it is improving the competition AND our youngsters!

| Quote Irregular Hoops="Irregular Hoops"I would love to see JB Down Under's opinion on this signing, & the number of overseas players, if it wasn't Hull KR involved
'"
nit that impressed, we needed a number 6 and I'd preferred we had a good young British one but we don;t and there wasn;t any on the market. Morgans been pretty good with his signings so I'll trust that he sees something in Green that I don't.
In terms of number of overseas players I'm divided. As a fan of HKR I want to see our club at the top and winning silverware, and I don;t care what colour passports the players have that are doing it. As a RL fan I want to see a strong Int game and so would rather see SL 75% full of English talented players. Then I see a club like Leeds with all the advantages they have signing a player like Ben Cross or FC with their resources playing someone like Lauaki and think WTF lets just get on with assembling the best squad we can.

| As somebody who is more bothered about club rugby then international rugby, I couldn't care less where our players come from, Hull, Australia, NZ, the moon, where ever
As soon as they get out onto the pitch they are all Hull KR players regardless. As long as the club continue to conform with the guidleines concerning "quota" players then im perfectly happy with my club

Lol, yeah okay.
A club that was in administration ten years ago and NL1 five years ago recently had three lads named in the England provisional training squad, not bad going IMO.

'" Hang on. Please correct me if I'm wrong but the reason HKR have these extra number is because some of these players were at HKR before the new quota laws were introduced, right? Meaning when the likes of vella (32) and galea (32) inevitably retire (or move on) they will not free up a quota spot, thus meaning that numbers are definatley reduced long term?
Could someone clarify whether that's right?
