But how can they plan for SL when they don't know what life in the Championship has in store for them? What is the point in drawing up a plan to be in SL in 10 years if they struggle in the Championship? Surely they should concentrate on becoming a successful Championship club, consolidate their competitiveness, and then draw up plans when the time comes?
surely what they do in the championship would be part of their plan to get to SL. planning for SL in the future doesnt discount planning for the time they are in the championship, a plan is simply a map for getting from one point to another, from where they are now to SL
Unless they're being backed by a multi-millionnaire like Celtic, I see little point in them worrying about SL for a long time, and planning for it would be a waste of time and paper. There are so many things that could happen between now and then it would be pointless. Resources would be best spent in other areas.
im sorry but that is ridiculous, if they dont have a plan of how to get to SL then they are never going to get there. By your reckoning all they should is get in to the championship and see what its like, which is simply likely to leave them as a crap championship club. Any club submitting a bid to enter the championships should know where they are going, where they aim to be and what they will do when they get there, its not a great deal to ask and is the minimum we should expect from all our clubs,
to follow your logic they could come in to the championship, sell a good amount of tickets, get good sponsors, put out a competitive team and generally go well, but then have no idea where they go next because they simply havent planned for the eventuality that things go well, its crazy

At such an embryonic stage I would have though a "goal" would suffice. Your argument seems to assume that no further plans can develop based on actual circumstances the club finds itself in years down the line, which is of course absurd.

where have i said they cant change or amend plans? nowhere, because quite rightly that would be absurd, almost absurd as anyone reading what i said and believing it had no place for change,
plans would, naturally, flesh out as they got nearer the time, but having the overall aim of getting to SL isnt a plan, even at this 'embryonic' stage, i would hope people looking for investment from sponsors, fans, and not least the RFL and RLI have looked at whether their overall aim is actually realistic or possible. and if they have looked at that, they should have a pretty good idea of where they are going to play should they reach their aim, considering it is such a long term investment, and takes such a long time to come to fruition,

You are arguing that if they don't have a plan now to get into SL they will never get there. In fact even worse without a plan to get into SL they will only be a "crap championship club" not a top or even decent or middling but a "crap championship club".
They could plan now to reach SL but since that eventuality is so far down the line, in order to carry out that plan the club (as Wellsy pointed out) would need a multi millionaire backer to make sure that the plan happened.
In the absence of said multi millionaire a goal of reaching SL in 9, 12 or however many years is sufficient at this stage. If the goal was to reach SL within say 5 years then yes a fully fleshed out plan would be a necessity now.
was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
That's fine Leigh expect to be world club champions by 2013
thats nice, but unlike leigh,
London Skolars have started aim for, and plan for, and started to execute that plan for getting in to SL in 2015
though some of course would be critical of this because, erm, well thought out and executed plan seems to be something to be looked down on if your a fan of one of the hull clubs
