So in theory could a club like Fax or Barrow still secure a franchise in July, or was it only ever one place for a current NL club?
Yes Roofs Fax are now 1 of 15 names in the frame for 13 places all the SL clubs are in it with them.
Barrow failed in their application so they are now out.

Well done to Widnes..as a welshman I remember that fantastic side that Doug Laughton had and full of welsh superstars- Jonathon Davies being one of them. They showed the match he made his debut on live welsh TV

as for The Crusaders losing their spot in Superleague I think some of you guys haven't a clue about the development work that has been done in Wales in the past 7 years and how the game is growing.

the RL and IRL know this and a strong Wales side will help strenghen the International scene. Lets be frank this is one of 2 reasons ( money being the other ) why English RL players pimp themselves by going to Union, to play lots of international games for the England rugger side. Not becuase they are going to see lots more of the ball in a better game.

the Crusaders are the focal point for welsh youngsters who want to play superleague and the RFL ain't going to sink that ship.

IF you do want to educate yourself on one of Britain's fastest growing development area for RL, have a deckko at these websites...and its just the tip of the iceberg

As bad as the Willows is , it is still twice the stadium that Wheldon Road is , they didn't need a change in the rules to get back into SL

Been told to put better bulbs in the floodlights is hardly changing the rules now is it?

As for the Willows being better than Wheldon Road, come off it! Other than Belle Vue the Willows has to be the worst ground in the league.

Starbug wrote:

And unless I'm mistaken you're not allowed to build stadia without planning permission....

But, facts don't exactly suit your clear anti-Cas bias now does it?

As for Halifax they'll miss out again in July because matched up with SL clubs they wont beat out anyone but Wakey, and Widnes will be replacing them.

Good job it doesn't work like that in the Championships then isn't it ,

Yep, you can get relegated and complain about it and get reinstated when you're in the Championship

Assuming that Wakey are the favourite to get the bullet, if they are relegated because of their stadium then they have to relegate Cas as well. If they are relegated because of having been in administration then they have to relegate Crusaders. Oh, but hang on, didn't they drop that rule the week before Crusaders entered administration?

Why?

you do realise that the stadium is only one criteria. Assuming wakey and cas get exactly same score in relation to the stadium criteria that doesnt mean they are both automatically relegated. Its which of the two is categorised as stronger over the entire set of criteria. At a guess I'd say Cas are ahead over the entire criteria set.

And unless I'm mistaken, planning permission is due to be completed next week with building slated to start shortly thereafter.

Nothing ' Vague ' about it , all the clubs were fully aware of the minimum standards required at the time , and then just like the Administration rules this time , they changed overnight without any publicity ...

This is not 'evidence'. A link to some official document or even a proper report in a reputable organ will suffice.

Halifax can, but Barrow cannot, because while the former passed the criteria, the latter did not.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

There is still nothing there but a pile of dirt , planning permisiion is just a plan , nothing else , when it is actually built , as was promised it would be for 2008/9/10/11/12 , then come back on here and show us the pictures

There was no document or ' report ' , the RFL changed their own rules , that had been given out to all clubs , and didn't make a fuss about it , because they wanted it to be kept quiet , the lowering of minimum standards is not something you would scream from the rooftops is it ? you lot really like acting ' thick ' dont you

So do you have any proof of this or are you, as we all suspect, making it up and making yourself look like a fool? As for acting thick, there's only you acting thick around here...

The ONLY thing the RFL asked Cas to do was change the bulbs in the floodlights, hardly sweeping changes is it? Lowered minimum standards? Come on then, what did they lower? the ground holds 12,000 and is in a better condition than the Shay, Belle Vue, the Willows...

Evidence, please. You've been asked repeatedly. Either you have evidence or you do not. Which is it?

And claiming that, while nobody 'screamed it from the rooftops' you managed to hear it but others completely missed it doesn't count as evidence either.

They reduced the seating capacity required from 2,000 [ which Leigh spent thousands of pounds complying with ] to 1,500 , which is the exact number Wheldon road has , it was just a coincidence of course that it changed the year you got promoted back into SL

Look Minty started all this , the bottom line is , you're next in line for the drop , but you will survive , for another 3 years , or until you build Glasshoughton
