I think cas will struggle later in the season. They have a small squad and are likely to be hit badly when they get a few injuries. Don't think their forwards are good enough to keep it going all season either.
To put things in perspective, Hull were awful on Friday and still would have won if Tickle had kicked any of the 3 conversions he missed, plus they still have Raynor, Tony, King, Washbrook, Luakai and (fingers crossed) Crocker to add to the side from Friday.

cas are this season's wakefield. A few wins early on and they're suddenly grand finalists in waiting. Long season and plenty of water to run under the bridge yet

They did ok friday night against what many regard as one of the top packs in the league, even when we had two props earlier in the season we did ok against big packs like catalns.

Maybe at the end of the season that will be said of hull, only one way to find out.

Is that the same Wakefield who lost 4 of their first 6 games in 2008?

Hull aren't good enought to finish in the top 4 this season. Our pack was missing Paul King and Danny Washbrook and was on the back of a 5 day turnaround having played against one of the biggest and most physical packs in the league last Sunday. Add in to the mix Lauakai and Crocker and the pack suddenly starts to look much stronger. cas definitely aren't good enough to finish top 4 but may just squeeze into the play offs with a back wind. You can convince yourself you've gone from the worst team in the league to one of the best in a few months but you haven't. Likewise, Hull haven't gone from 2nd worst to top 4 either.

All too true! Although I wouldn't have considered Hull the second worst team last year, injuries played their part and I think they'll grab 3rd/4th spot personally. Cas with a bit of luck to finish 7th, personally i'm going for 9th.

I think hull are perfectley capable of finnishing top 4 this year, and i have never said cas would finish in the top 4 ( i said preseason we would be between 10th and 8th, but on seeing how good are new signings are i have changed my mind and think we will finnish top 6). On friday our pack outmuscled yours, after only one more day to rest than yours, and both of the players you mentioned wouldnt have been playing friday unless your saying you had two forwards playing who deserved to be dropped after a 5 match unbeaten run? as for going from the worst to the best in a few months, we werent the worst team at the end of last season, we won 4 of our last 8 and the loses included leeds and saints and a narrow loss to bradford, since then we have brought in 10 new players most of which are playing supperbly and we have brent sherwin fit now, i surely dont have to tell a hull fan how important having your 7 fit is do i? Whats more we never had much of a problem scoring points last year (6th best in attack iirc, and we have so far scored more than any other tema this year) it was our defence that let us down in jones, evans, hudson etc we have signed some really good defenders, so whilst our defence isnt as good as we would like still it is vastly improved. When the ground firms up ur attack is only going to get better as we have an expansive playing style, you seem to base your entire argument on last year which is largely irrelevent now, catalans went from 10th to 3rd in a year, so its not as if 12th to 6th is that unrealistic is it?
