After getting a five-week jump on suspended Manly full-back Brett Stewart, Newcastle captain Kurt Gidley is on a mission to win the NSW No.1 spot.
Gidley says he wants to be a State of Origin starter this year, and has challenged Knights half-back Jarrod Mullen to join him.

Both Stewart and Gidley will play for the Blues. Stewart as full-back and Gidley as a utility from the bench.

Shouldn't be that way. Kidley should be fullback. Stewart isn't made for the physicality of Origin, Kidley is made for it, plus he's almost redundant coming off the bench.

It's just like Hunt is better suited against the Kiwis whereas Slater is better suited against the Poms. It's just how it is.

kidley is the most over rated useless piece of s**t player

does nothing for newcastle and doesnt deserve a spot in the team

hes not fit to tie brett stewarts shoelaces

and if you want a good utility pick craig wing

its no wonder queensland lap nsw every year when nsw pick such dud players

kidley (great name mate) has had more losses at origin than you can poke a stick at.

now johns and buderus are gone, gidley will be left floundering at newcastle.

let him worry about getting his club to the semis, which appears unlikely.
