Surprisingly no comments, would have thought a few of the "the sport is dying and run by idiots" brigade would have been all over a pretty high profile appointment such as this.

I'll bite.
Although Mr Draper managed to upset Mr Lloyd, the favourite of the few Hull Fc fans around at that time,he seems to be lacking admirers;except his new found friends at Warrington.

In the face of stiff opposition, Roger Draper, the former chief executive of the Lawn Tennis Association, qualifies as one of the worst administrators in British sporting history. His £40 million folly, the National Tennis Centre, is being closed next month but it will take years to dispel the complacency and indolence his regime encouraged among a pampered and unproductive elite.

For those of us wanting and waiting for a lawn tennis player with a black pigmentation of the skin, from Brixton,to play a few miles away at Wimbledon,we are still waiting.

Surprised he wasn't granted an honour by New Labour, such has been his reported failure and exponential financial reward.

THIS GUY WAS A WORSE ADMINISTRATOR THAN HE WAS A FIELDER...and that's no easy feat! He buggered up Sussex Cricket, before destroying attendances at Surrey Cricket and then he went on to trip 75% off the average fan base at London Broncos and essentially destroying the club. Needless to say, he's still "actively seeking a new opportunity" after falling on his sword 11 months ago.....surprised he hasn't been snapped up
That's 3 of his last roles he's failed in......he seems very apt at losing other peoples money for them!

boards and he is NOT to be taken at all seriously. "

Re: Warrington Wolves appoint new CEO : Wed Feb 11, 2015 12:03 am
Draper directed me to my very first amateur rugby league club in London more than twenty years ago, when he was a development officer for the RL down here.

I'd just moved to the city from Uni, and wanted to play but didn't have a clue where the clubs were (this is pre-internet!). So I rang the RFL and they gave me Draper's number. I phoned him, and he said my nearest club was in Crystal Palace (South London). I was a bit surprised, as I lived in Walthamstow (North-East London), and my "nearest" club was thus a 90-minute each-way tube and train ride away. Bit of a bugger to do training on a work night, but when you're young and stupid...

So I went along and played for what turned out to be the London Crusaders' third team which was playing in the London amateur league. A couple of games in, we had a match against East London, who were based about 20 minutes from where I lived. It turned out that I could have gone there all the time, as they were keen for new players, but Draper had an objective to set up a new Crusaders' reserve team, so was telling any clueless new league player in the capital that it was their nearest club.

I should have spotted then that he had all the silky skills necessary to earn more than half a million a year as CEO of the utterly hopeless LTA !

Still, no hard feelings. I just hope Warrington have negotiated a more sensible pay deal.

An excellent appointment by the Wolves in my opinion.
