When clubs points are reset for the middle 8’s, it makes round 1-23 pointless.

I agree. There should be a point in time when new signings aren't allowed. The potential for promotion or relegation shouldn't be a catalyst for teams to knee-jerk signing players (no doubt at stupid prices) to help them at this point in the season. That was a good aspect of franchising, but so, so easy to stop happening with our current setup as well.

Even though my club have done just this with the Todd Carney signing. I agree. I think that by the beginning of June no one should be allowed to sign players for that season. And any new signings should be for the following year. The players/squad who have got you to where you are should be the ones to determine your fate.

I'm actually surprised at this moment though, that there has been a whole lot more of these short term signings. Given the up in the air nature of RL at the moment. And the proposed new structure.
Although I don't feel it will come in next year, given the lack of negotiations between SL and the other clubs. Or sky, who still have a contract for 3 years with the current structure. The longer it takes, the less likely it will happen.

I too am suprised there haven’t been more signings, perhaps the clubs near the bottom feel there is a good chance Super League 2019 will have 14 teams.

Salford have secured the services of half-back Jackson Hastings, initially for the rest of the season.

Another short term signing purely for the middle 8’s, making a mockery of the regular season.

Bore off with the "makes a mockery" malarkey. Leeds made a mockery of the regular seasons winning two grand finals from 5th.

It all started with Wakey in 2015 who replaced virtually half their team !
It is the nature of the beast I am afraid, bottom of SL want to stay up for the finances, top of Championship want to go up for the finances & glory of promotion !

I would be unhappy if Leigh did not try to strengthen at this time, even if the horse has already bolted !

But at least we did it with the squad we’d had all year. It has happened in the playoffs, Andrew Johns played for Warrington on loan as did Adrian Morley with Bradford. The deadline for new signings should be mid June IMO.

Many on here would like to see the top 6 playoffs back, I’m not one of them as I agree if you don’t finish in the top 4 you don’t deserve a shot at the grand final.
