There has always been advantage given to "big" names or "big" clubs, always.
Certainly some of the lower grade refs have always been reluctant to rail against the games superstars, both here and in Aus.

Hence the Trinity fans frequent criticism of certain refs

I’ve been saying this for bloody years.

All this slowing the game down, the wrestle, the terrible ruck speed, that Melbourne have brought to the sport have taken this sport backwards as a spectacle. Shame on Melbourne for it! And every time anyone ever mentions it they spit their dummy out.

I can’t stand Craig Bellamy and his pet Cam Smith.

Mr knees in, elbow drop, chicken wing, chicken thigh, third man in after “held”, third man in at the knee joint, hands in face.....

He’s not he dirtiest player I’ve ever seen, there are some absolute thugs who’ve played the game ahead of him, but he’s surely the dirtiest player of all time in ratio to how often he’s penalised or retrospectively banned.

An out-and-out grub and gets away with it!

The wrestle is the single most worst thing that’s happened to RL in a very long time.
Hate it, ruins the game.
Compare a RL and RU game 10 years ago and now.
Where RL could claim to be the quickest and more interesting of the two back then- it cannot now!

i had a row with a hull fan on twitter last month, he posted the vid of adam blair and glenn stewart at manly and the bench clearing brawl, and saying what a bunch of cowards manly were as it went 5 on 1 (they got there first before the storm players) and thats why manly are hated.

He could not and would not accept or comprehend what a negative bunch of cheating lovers melbourne, bellamy and maguire are, and what a blight on the game they have been over there and here as well., he also blankly refused to accept the the cheating the salary cap that they did circa 2006/7.

Even Queenslanders boo’d Smith in Brisbane a few years ago in his testimonial game for Melbourne at Suncorp.
