Sorry. When I wrote that first dismissive post I had not read that sensational news report from the Sydney Morning Herald. That report, written by an ace journalist, seems to be credible to me. So I now am a member of the school of thought that believes that Gareth Widdop will soon return to the UK.

I seriously doubt that he will be returning to play for his hometown Halifax. More likely Wigan or Huddersfield. Whoever signs him will drastically improve their chances of winning silverware.

New important official statement by the St. George-Illawarra club: https://www.dragons.com.au/news/2018/11 ... th-widdop/ It seems that Widdop has committed to stay with St George-Illawarra for 2019, but wants to return to England sooner than the end of his current contract, which means sooner than the end of the 2021 season. He says that he wants to end his career in Super League, which will surely help the RFL and Super League get a good TV contract for 2022.

Homesick? Its taken him what, 15 years to come to that conclusion. Im sure his australian wife is going to love it over here.

Im sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that St George want Johnson.
