It says a lot... : Wed Jan 23, 2019 12:59 pm
On the BBC a rather pathetic story about sporting brothers who are alledged to have stolen money from a charity gets a high profile as a Rugby League story but barely a mention in any of the football sections. We need to havea stream of planted stories to keep our profile out of the gutter and to move negative stories along.

Agreed
Whoever is responsible for the RL "publicity machine" should be sent packing.
Maybe RL should employ one of the "media moguls" that looks after the annual I'm a celebrity winner.
They seem to be on the front pages every day or maybe get an ex RL player to go on there ??

The story got the same spot on the football page when it first came out 2 days ago, difference is plenty of newer recent stories have pushed it down and off the page (especially the new Cardiff striker plane tragedy). Not enough new things in RL so it’s still one of the most recent stories.

I have notice though no difference in promotion and hype for this years season start when we’re just over a week away from kickoff. Thought Elstone as top dog at SL now was going to improve it? Not changed a bit.

I would much rather our superleague chairmen took more of a leading role in appointing key RL personnel. It’s obvious the RFL has’nt been fit for purpose and is just a place for people to retire on artificially high wages, relative to their non-existent impact/performance.

For example, Barwick; what has he done apart from accruing large sums of money for doing absolutely nothing.

I wouldn't. Quite the oposite in fact. I think Super league clubs gave bagged themselves enough power these last few months without also appointing the RFL staff.

We need a RFL that speaks for the whole game and doesn't haplessly cave in to every SL whim.

Ok, let's stick with what we've got: a diminishing game getting no publicity as we diminish further. Why don't we try and get in another Nigel Wood and another Barwick and some more useless overpaid RL management cronies, then we can wipe our game off the map once and for all.

Well we're just over a week away from the start of the 2019 season and there's diddly squat in the media promoting it. So much for the new SL broom to push the sport on, eh?

I've got a bit of time for that because we all know that every "SL whim" will shimmy in to every top 4 SL whim in no time at all.
Whilst the RFL are pretty poor value, I'm not sure I'm up for delegating SL's current crop of 4rs3h0les as natural successors.

Don’t think he said we should stick with the exact same or couldn’t improve, but that doesn’t mean any changes should be decided by SL club owners, most have got to put their hands up and admit their share of failings in terms of helping keep the profile and attendances up yet they just place their shortcomings all on the RFL.

The BBC only publish Super League/NRL news, if they could be @rsed with with the championship/league one/BARLA there would be plenty 'other news' for them to publish.
