There is really no comparison there Printer. You had internationals in your team. And you are surely not saying Ablett and JJB are your starting second row.
Watkins, Sutcliffe and Myler have all recently played for England. Ferris did a long time ago admittedly. You have a Back row that played for Australia. Both starting hookers and halfbacks playing.....I thought Dwyer had a great game by the way.
11 of your team had squad numbers in the 17.
You can't say that injuries cost you that game. Passing the ball in to touch when you had an overlap 2-3 times and passng to two of our fastest guys, cost you that game.
And I think we wanted it more.
Sutcliffe started the year as a 2nd row, he’s only move to HB because Lolohea’s failed and was dropped and he only return to FB because of Walker’s injury to say our spine was first choice is incorrect.
Calling Sutcliffe an international based being called up from the Knights (where he played centre) for one game vs France is pushing it and Myler was about England’s 7th choice because of various injuries to HB’s. Watkins on the other hand is an established international but he’s also a shadow of his former self since his knee injury and doesn’t look right physically or mentally to be playing. Merrin only got off a plane from Aus on Saturday night after 2 weeks away so really had no preparation for this game. Squad numbers don’t mean too much right now because if everyone was fit they’d be a couple in there who wouldn’t be picked, namely Lolohea and Singleton who out at Fev earlier this year.
We had one guy we’ve got on trial from Widnes, one we picked up from HKR who they didn’t want, an 19 2nd row starting on debut, a 19 year old in centre, a failed HB at FB and a failed HB returning to HB and stints at centre and 2nd row over the last few seasons.
Injuries didn’t cost us the game, never said that but making out one team was massively disadvantaged to the other isn’t correct.
