2019 Champions : Fri Oct 18, 2019 7:55 pm
Now the dust has settled on an entertaining season and imperious Grand Final performance from the newly crowned champions I felt as though it would be appropriate to start a thread where everyone can pay tribute and offer their praise to St Helens after winning their 7th Super League title. This comes after a record breaking season in which the Saints were wrongly written off by many fans and labelled as bottlers. It’s important we show our respect to a side whose quality we may never see again. I’ll start by saying thank you to Justin Holbrook, for entertaining all Super League fans and winning the Super League Championship with such style. One of the best coaches we have seen.

You’ve no chance of Wigan and the wolfs fans showing appreciation. They are still trying to get refunds on their Salford shirts.

I have found Wigan and Warrington fans to be very hostile towards Saints fans this year. Hopefully they can change their ways and show some respect towards the champions. Especially Warrington, a chance for their fanbase to show they’ve changed their ways after the shocking scenes of violence they’ve instigated this season, bringing the great name of Rugby League into the mud.

Is this what split personality disorder is? Or are there actually 2 of you?

Saints deserved it, there is no mad bias against you lot. You gave wire zero credit and instead just gorged on sour grapes and went in to absolute meltdown about referee decisions. But now you expect to be praised as a team for winning the grand final and are completely brushing over a few dubious calls that went your way in the second half and ended it as a contest? Classless in defeat and victory, I think a lot have lost a bit of respect for your chairman and some fans this season.

The best team won, that's as good as you're getting, I'm glad we stopped you getting the treble.

Saints were good this year but to be honest the other "usual contenders"  were poor.
Early season looked to be a two horse race between Saints and Wire but once Saints had opened a gap it seemed like Wire just set the sites on Wembley and did a good job on the day.
Hull and Cats started well but lack the professionalism to be consistent.
Leeds were a shambles and Wigans late season firm only papered over the cracks.
Apologies to other clubs but by  "usual contenders" I mean teams that would be expected to be in with chance of making it to GF.
All credit to Salford for making the Final and to London for keeping the relegation fight going to the end.
Anyway we all start level next year and it remains to be seen how Saints will go under their new coach, he's got a hard act to follow.  I don't we will be as good next year but it will give someone else a chance. ;-)

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

Re: 2019 Champions : Sat Oct 19, 2019 8:00 am
Will other teams try and emulate Championee Saints exciting style of play, only Warrington, Castleford and Salford played that way for a part of the season under different circumstances. That historic 16 pt winning league margin was phenomenal by todays standards only Wigan were near that margin but at the time they were full time against part timers.

Saints have won 23 titles/trophies in 23 years whilst other teams have had good seasonal spells but fell by the wayside only Leeds have challenged but even they have been indifferent at the start of the super league and at the latter years so far.

A consistent high standard of fast skilled play will bring back the fans, that Saints v Salford Final was prove of that with all those all time viewing figures, the first half of the Grand Final was noted as the best ever and that includes some of those great Bradford v Saints finals.
