He's been referenced as a 'rugby league star' in a few rags but I don't think he ever played for the Warriors or in the NRL from what I've seen. Terrible story but not sure why they are headlining it that way.

It sells newspapers in Sydney and Brisbane if you can link any story to Rugby League.
Like a million other people, this guy once played some RL, so that made it possible to turn the headline into clickbait.
