as ever, two sides, any NRL side would demolish SL opposition. We are slow, we ruin the ptb, and it is boring. I wouldn't blame Sky for walking away. Look at the schedules, F1, Golf, Cricket, Netball, all take prescedence above RL. A tiddly winks final with a quarter of humbug at stake would beat the Sky coverage for the garbage SL serves up.

Any NRL side! Come on dude don't be so ridiculous. The idea that every side in the NRL are world beaters is just silly.

Gold Coast 19/20 for example were abysmal. Did you actually watch them play? That team would have got beaten by SL sides.

This idea that any NRL side would demolish SL opposition. Simply not true at all. Considering we just seen the roosters not demolish the saints you're own argument is defeated.

Enjoyed the game. Unbelievable effortfrom the Roosters given they hadnt even had a pre season game yet.
Thought the youg full back for Saints was way out of his depth. Makinson had a shocker as well

I know he’s coming back from injury but I was amazed Makinson couldn’t catch Keary when he broke for his try.

There were certainly some opportunities for Saint Helens to score, and, if not to win the game, definitely put the Roosters under pressure. Whether the Roosters were at their best is unlikely, but in any case debatable. ATEOTD, we'll not know for sure. What we do know is that Saints execution when near their opponents line was poor, given they had played three rounds of SL.

I know fans who support clubs that have never won a World Club Challenge are always dismissive of the fixture but what was not to like about the game on Saturday? It was RL at it's best.

I wasn't exactly cheering for Saints but it was a high intensity game and the wools gave as good as they got but come up against a side with a little extra class. Had St Helens took their chances in the second half when they were on top they could easily have won. The Roosters certainly made no mistake when their chances came and deserved to win it.

Perhaps the English game and the NRL are not as far apart as many think but it was an excellent spectacle.

Proud of that performance from Saints on Saturday. We've come up against the best side in the world missing three of our first choice players and were right in the game up until they scored their 4th try. Our players left nothing out on the pitch. Just wish we'd have took those chances we had when on top in the second half.

Huge credit to the Roosters too. Their players did some coaching at some of our junior clubs in St Helens in the lead up to the game and were more than happy to chat and have photos taken with the fans pre and post game. They were still at the ground well after midnight socialising with fans and our players. They were great guests and were a credit to the NRL.

Fair assessment.

My evaluation of the difference better the two leagues is the same as it was after Wigan vs SGI a few years ago. The difference is execution, NRL teams just do the little things better. The pass is more exact, the pick up is sharper. The basic skills have to be in the NRL. Maybe Saints can afford to bomb more chances in SL?

Either way, it was a good competitive game and hopefully the attendance of Greenberg will see the game given the billing it deserves.
