Not a cross-code topic - very much about RL;

Given the RUWC is now postponed, how (and can), the RLWC take advantage of the situation?

The stage is surely ours??

Worth pointing out that it is the Women's Union World Cup. It wasn't very clear from the BBC News article.

The media are doing this a lot with Womens sports, missing out the gender out of the headline, I assume this is intended to promote gender equality but clicking for example 'Man City hammer Dortmund in Europe' and then finding it isn't what I thought is annoying.

Good point, which I missed (because I do not follow union in any way, shape or form).

However, the union-loving media would indeed have been all over it.

I would think there is still a space for us to fill here - especially with our multi-facetted WC = women and wheelchair in particular.

Agree that we have a good chance to push our World Cup as an equal opportunities event. Ive been impressed with the World Cup team so far, good marketing and the fixtures and venues seem logical, but knowing RL's usual luck a new lockdown, a hurricane and a train strike will all hit on the opening day. We don't ever seem to catch a break.

It's not a media agenda, it's how the RU WC is now branded:

"On 21 August 2019, World Rugby announced that gender designations would be removed from the titles of the men's and women's World Cups. Accordingly, all future World Cups for men and women will officially bear the "Rugby World Cup" name. The first tournament to be affected by the new policy will be the next women's tournament to be held in New Zealand in 2021, which will officially be titled as "Rugby World Cup 2021"

You beat me to it. I remember them announcing this.

Talking RU, just how bad was the ref for the England Wales game last weekend OMG.
A clear knock on and neither the ref nor TMO saw anything wrong with it and how the hell could a ref allow play to restart when he had asked the England captain to "have a word with his side".

I think RL ref's are impeccable at the side of those decisions (joking about impeccable)

How bad was the game? Nothing much flowed such that it was more like a 1980's RU game, especially the kick kick kick.

Not prejudiced against their game at all, but it seems to have gone backwards.

I could not comment, because I cannot bring myself, neither morally nor through sporting interest, to watch that utter poop!

It will never be on my TV screen. Ever.

The real frustration in Rugby overall at the moment is League has the exciting on field product, Union the organisation and marketing...you have to wonder how good things could be if both combined. Never going to happen of course, and if it did it'd a Union takeover not merger.
