Golden Point Draw As FC and the Wolves Share Points

The final game of round three of Super League 2021 saw the Warrington Wolves travel to Hull to take on an FC side who started the game sitting pretty in second place in the table and who knew that a big points win would see them end the round at the top of the pile.

Talisman Marc Sneyd was back for the home side after missing last week's cup win over Featherstone Rovers, but they were without the services of Manu Ma'u who is out for up to a month with a calf problem. The Wolves were missing Tom Lineham who is serving the first of a three-match ban but did have Gareth Widdop back in their side for the trip over the Pennines.

What do you mean they “share the points”?

The league is based on win %.

A draw is essentially a loss now isn’t it?

I thought it was points percentage?

“Points percentage will be calculated by taking the number of points a team has won and dividing it by the number of matches they have played, and then multiplying by 50.” (BBC website)

Teams tied on points percentage are then separated by points difference percentage.

So a draw does count? But whichever site you look at the table is different, I’m not sure anyone knows what is going on.

Points percentage so 1 is better than 0.

I'm sure there's a disclaimer which states the rfl can alter the rulings

Does anyone know why there was only 2 periods of extra time where in the KR game the other week there was 4?

Because last week was a cup game and there had to be a winner. They would have carried on beyond 4 periods if it was needed. League games only have a maximum of 2 periods.

“You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”

A draw is a fair result, golden point should be for knockout competitions if a period of extra time fails to separate the teams

Hopefully that’s right.

The only metric the current table has on the SL website though is win %. Maybe it will be fixed on Monday.

We contacted them to explain that we thought that they were misinterpreting the table rules for this season and they now seem to have changed their table to reflect ours based on points percentage rather than win percentage.
