Been looking at purchasing some RLWC tickets. I note for the opening game and the semi final the cheapest tickets are £55 and the cheapest final ticket is £85.

Are these really the cheapest tickets left available or will they release further cheaper tickets later down the line at a cheaper rate?

I find it hard to believe that the opener, semi final or final will sell out when the cheapest tickets left available are £55 / £85.

I was keen to buy tickets for the family for a few matches but at them prices I will be unable to.

Christ. We are such a cheap sport even the fans are cheap.

There comes a point where you have to place value in the product. Any other sport for for a world Cup would not see cheaper tickets for an opener, semi and final. The RFL created a problem when they were selling tickets for prestige games on the cheap which has only resulted in fans now expecting cheap tickets always.

If one values its product then while a race to the bottom may see tickets sold all it does for the actual product is create a bigger problem going forward as how do you sell more expensive tickets?

If the remaining tickets don't sell at these prices I would say its more of a problem for the fanbase than the RFL. This is supposed to be the greatest game, that's what people like to say and selling out these games should a given.

I'm always a bit curious as to whether there's a better model for ticket sales rather than the tiered price approach.

If let's say you took a 60000 capacity stadium is it viable to sell all tickets for £30 each, affordable to get a sell out, demand led so people buy early to get the best view* - rather than a tiered price approach and, based on past experience, only a 60% attendance.

*I guess there'd need to be a system to discourage resale of the 'best seats' though.

Sometimes RL over eggs the ticket bands I find, the Challenge Cup final map was a multicoloured technicolour dreamcoat a few years ago but they have since culled a few bands. At the KCOM for the last England game they tried charging £50 for the halfway line but something like £10 or £15 less for the block next to it, fans have been to this ground for almost 20 years now and know there isn't a bad view anywhere, so the end result was an almost empty halfway line block but the cheaper tickets sold out.

Good to see very prominent adverts at Anfield during the Liverpool game yesterday though, they seem to be doing a better job than usual of targeting adverts.
