'Great defence, always wins games, y'only have to score one more point than them. If tha does, tha'll win, if that doesn't tha'll lose, learn from it, more than the win last week.'. Peter Fox, 1980.

To an extent Bradford have "Been there and done that" with a matchday experience that was more productive early on, before it ended up being dropped.

I love the 20 20 cricket as a novelty, but it's too soon to call it a success, we have to see whether their early crowds hold up or decline.....

We also have to see how our own new rules appeal to the fans next season when they return. I think the new rules sharpen the games up......

Growing the game is not just about new rules, that will hopefully lead to the game itself more easy to understand for non ex players/watchers. The whole game day concept must be more entertaining to compete with the other distraction our youngsters have. We in the RL game like to shout about 'The Rugby League Family'. Well, if that is true, we must encourage families, in order to grow he game at all levels. That starts in getting more kids into Community Clubs by making the top levels of the game more fun and interesting for families.

True
For all the failings of Toronto on terms of management they did lead in the field of entertainment & engagement in fan experience. Yes there are huge differences between North American & English fans *lot's of wandering around & polite clapping might be the Canuck way* but they certainly had families in mind pre/during & possibly post match.

It's time U.K/French clubs began to look more deeply at the whole 'Game Day' experience.

I could not agree less.

All TWP games came with a free beer festival, in which many attendees didn't watch, but stayed in the beer tents, yet were counted as fans.

Free tickets were showered on the locals.

The exit gates were left open all match for people to wander in free

Announced attendances were far greater than English fans who attended games thought they were. So much so English fans started doing headcounts.

The minute they landed at Headingley to play here, most fans stayed in the bar and only four Wolfpack fans could be spotted........

if you have to entertain people during a match surely you are doing it wrong on the field......

I know what you mean but that's not necessarily true when you are trying to entice children. I took my nephew to his first game on Sunday. He's 5 and whilst he loved the first 30 mins he sort of lost focus after that. Partly because we were being utterly bent over by Whitehaven and we all started frothing at the mouth, but mainly because it was a bit bewildering for a young lad who'd never seen Rugby before. Fortunately at Odsal we could take him off and go look at something else for a bit whilst Whitehaven ran in unopposed.

Clearly not everyone has acres of space to play with but I think it is about putting a package of entertainment in place, even if the game itself is the primary focus.

I find myself agreeing with you....which is weird.

Toronto returned to Lamport at the weekend.....they were playing a team that most torontonians had never heard of, sort of like when they played most teams from the UK, but there were barely 300 people there and just 2 brewers.......it seems that without the subsidy and a billionaire (sic) throwing money about, they aren't the drawcard some on here believed them to be.
Lamport without a few thousand + beer lovers at one end ignoring the game is a whole different kettle of fish..,..they are to be applauded for persevering and should be given every assistance possible, but they aren't the silver bullet that RL fans seem to be searching for.
2022 is a HUGE year for th sport in the UK......if the clubs can fill grounds then it will be hard for SKY to ignore, especially if we can turn the heads of other broadcasters.
Get full stadiums on the BBC as part of the FTA deal and even if you have to bus people in, fill grounds for challenge cup games on TV......because perception is everything and a west Yorkshire team v a west Yorkshire team in front of 4,000 in a 12,000 stadium just.looks tin pot

It seems a tad off thread....but the Toronto attendance merely,in my opinion, demonstrates exactly why marketing works.
No group of people marketing the club once rich guy leaves = small attendance.
Slightly closer back to thread...it is noticeable how clubs who enjoyed even the briefest time in Super League are able to retain a small core of supporters through the bad times. It is far better to have reached the summit, and fallen, then never to have reached the summit at all.
I point towards Newcastle Thunder...where the hardcore loyalists and stalwarts of the club were at Gateshead Thunder in the late 90's...and North Wales Crusaders who were in Super League at Bridgend and Wrexham.

Maybe a structure change where those who were never in Super League are given funding to match those who have been in Super League since the 1990's.Oh,I forgot, the appointed commercial superstar appointed by Super League superstars failed to gain more commercial success...

It’s called marketing.

Toronto give out free tickets = lol they only get a good attendance because of free tickets.

Bradford give out free tickets = oh what an amazing attendance

The fact that a supposed heartlands club has to give out free tickets so their attendance is higher than 600 is utterly embarassing
