what a win hopefully this will be the turning point in our season.... Just wanted to ask a question or 2 about the individual performances from what i hear Chase was outstanding, and again Smith was poor? Also i hear Mullaney was really dodgy under the high kicks. Although made amends with that great conversation?

Dropped a couple and gifted Hull tries but confidence came back in second half and didn't put a foot wrong. His goal kicking was unreal, was it two off the touch line? The pressure on the last one too.

Smith made a big mistake not finding touch with a penalty, asides from that he was alright, mullaney needs to learn how to catch a ball, he did very well after his dithering early in the second half.
Meli got a hattrick but could have done so much more, morley was a very good influence, chase was as good tonight as he was bad on friday.
Overall a very good performance, but too many mistakes still.
Great atmosphere in the salford end, well done to the doc and the club for the free coaches.

Both teams made mistakes, but it shows we've got something we've not had for a long time. We can play better and/or more consistent, but we've still won away from home against a good side.

That's got to be encouraging for Salford fans, no?

I don't think Jake Mullaney has a problem catching the ball, more with his positioning or losing it in flight. When he's in the right position he's usually pretty good under the high ball, even when surrounded by opposition players, as he showed last night. Sometimes, though, he's nowhere near it, and there seems to be some confusion over whose ball it should be.

FB is a real no win position. Everyone else in the team gets a few 'free passes' when they make a mistake or two. A FB doesn't get any. If they drop a ball, or miss a tackle it's a disaster that everyone sees and points a finger at. I'm rarely critical of FB's because of this, it's a thankless position. I think Mullaney has showed he's been a very astute signing so far. I don't think there's much to be gained over analyzing his performances which have been pretty good so far.

Meli always does the minimum and he never jumps to challenge for a ball so don't hold your breath hoping for more than what you got last night! We waited for years but it never arrived.

Well done on what was a real fighting win. I listened to the match on 5 live sports extra (excellent coverage) and the game sounded like a really good contest.

I'm wondering if it's more a team problem than a full back problem. On the high kicks that get missed, there's usually a group of Salford players around where the ball lands but none of them have gone for it - and often there are players closer to it than Jake Mullaney. It's like there's some confusion over whose ball it is.
