Some people are severely underestimating how many people are aware of the new stadium and are willing to try it out early doors, regardless of any concerted marketing campaign. Just as some people vastly underestimated the amount that turned up at The Willows for the last game.
As for what happens after the first few games is anyone's guess.

13 seasons of Super League , no matter how well we played , who was coach, the variation in crowd was never above the 5200 figure we started with under Andy Gregory in 97. the common factor is the Willows, maybe they were flogging a dead horse trying to build attendances at Weaste after all.
The club's retention rate for invitation tickets at the Willows was risable , they are hoping for a much more positive reaction to new supporters at Barton , and as long as they hold onto our core support ,and have increased away support there's no reason why 6K+ average isn't acheivable . once all the squabbling about dubious squad , colours of seats have died down , Parking , Travel Plans have been sorted and a big publicity push in Jan - Feb we might be surprised. Still think Sunday PM K/O's would attract higher attendances though .

The Question is what would It have been,If we had been top of the League.

I would say not much more, but that is with a lot of what ifs? Leeds growth in crowds coincided with the demise of Leeds United We have had the problem down the road of being very successful since the start of super league.
My original guestimation was around the 6500 mark for the first few games, but since the Parishgate scandal and the below par signings made this pre season, it'll be around 5000 mark, and the same old watching a losing team, on the same old Friday night, and the same old counting on away support to boost gate's. Nothing's changed only a new stadium.

In an article for the MEN Tarry says that season ticket sales are up 45% from last year. Is that 45% in total or up until now? Who knows, would be interesting to know how many season tickets were sold last year as an estimate of what to expect this coming season. If he's throwing that figure around it can only be a positive I suppose.
DI, do you have no optimism at all? Do you not think that you shouldn't put the cart before the horse and just wait to see what the season brings? I really don't know why you post on here if you are so down on the Club. It's not like anyone is forcing you to watch Salford. Supporting a team should be about a bit of passion, through thick and thin. The fans are the only constant at a Club. Players, Chairmen, and now even stadia come and go, but the fans stay constant. It's about the highs and the lows. Sure, we all get frustrated at things from time to time but most will balance that negativity with a little positivity from time to time.
I fail to see why a so-called fan continues to post only negative things about the Club he is supposed to support. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but most fans deep down love their Club even when things are bad and will try to garner some positivity because that's what a fan does. Balance is key.

I was in the room for the press conference and my understanding if how it was said was that we are up 45% on where we were this time last year, and are ahead of where we expected to be. DT was pressed (by Jack Dearden) for actual numbers but wouldn't answer.

Read into that what you will I suppose. I think DT is missing a trick with this though. If the numbers are good, releasing them and hyping the sales a bit more might bring in those that are uncertain. The way I read it is - it's great that we are 45% up on this time last year, but the numbers for last year and the preliminary sales this year are still a bit low to make an impact in the press.
In which case, fair do's.
