Mcpherson has stepped up in recent months with Asotasi and Burgess on the sidelines with injuries. He looks like a committed forward who works hard and would do a job. I cant imagine hes on a big salary at Souths as a squad player so I imagine he would be a value for money purchase.

Ryan has had a very career in the NRL with Canterbury but coming over here at the age of 33 you are not going to get the best out of him.

I disagree. Forwards peak later than backs, and I'd say that a class prop like Ryan is still more than capable. The only risk in buying older Forwards is recovery and Injury. Something he obviously has little problem with. Think he would be a decent signing imo. Leadership and experience would be invaluable to those around him.

Age aside, another second rower turned prop we don't really need. For what he's likely to cost, we would probably be better off trying to keep hold of big Ray.

Got to agree that keeping Ray is almost as important as keeping hold of Steph.

I'll see what Parish says or which names he might have as a replacement but think we'll struggle to fill his place in the front row with anywhere near the same quality and workmanship.

Agreed 100%. Ray will be a massive loss.

''As things stand, Luke Patten and Daniel Holdsworth are signed for next year. That leaves us three vacant quota spots, which is a very attractive position to be in. Provided things are managed properly, I am extremely confident of building a most competitive outfit."

Parish

Reading this it doesn't feel like Cashmere or Henry are staying on, pretty plain that Parish wants these quota spots free to attract three new signings to provide impact and presumably put his stamp on the team.
I really like Ray & Mark Henry but I guess if any proof were needed Parish isn't afraid of making hard decisions it's in this paragraph, he thinks we can do better.

I think we could possibly see some great signings for next year from our new Boss. A guy who comes with big wraps from the likes of Ricky Stewart and Laurie Daley and has been working at the highest level in Origin is bound to help the possibility of bringing over some quality from Oz. The New Ground and facilities will help in hopefully bringing in decent players too.

If I was a young player looking to break through at the Club, I'd be pretty excited that Parish seems to be a firm believer in youth. If you've got it, you'll be noticed.

I think we have to accept that Cashmere is going home and we can't blame him, he has got his family to think of. Unless there is somebody we know will be better then I think we should keep Henry, he has had an excellent season. That still leaves us with 2 quota spots.

I wouldn't necessarily read it that way. I think he's saying there are two quota spots definitely taken because the players filling them are contracted beyond the end of the season. The other places are available because the players currently filling them aren't contracted for next year. This doesn't necessarily mean they're leaving. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them go to Mark Henry.

Will miss Big Ray, but for me Henry can go hes an OK players but if we want to go to that level we need better and he isn't getting any younger.
