Best of luck to Salford, while some things are very poor at Salford including but not restricted to attendances it would be sad to see Salford RL suffer.
*Note that I am well aware of the Barton, practically in Irlam Stadium issues etc, as I have discussed with Reds fans here previously*
I still stick to my comments elsewhere that Salford are (due to their issues) more likely, even deserving of relegation, however I DO NOT wish to lose Salford RLFC.
A Leigh v Salford fixture is much more desirable to me than a Leigh v Wakefield fixture ever could be, no offence to Wakefield but as near neighbours it is another local derby for us.
I also long for a really strong Greater Manchester contingent/representation in RL, including Swinton as I feel we are a little too Yorkshire dominant/top heavy in SL.
A Salford & Swinton ground share is the way forward IMHO, although how, where & the possibility that Salford are locked into a long lease at AJ Bell are very big fences to hurdle.
Elsewhere I have stated that I would like to see SL restructured which I won't go into in detail but simply moving to a SL1 & SL2 structure of 16 Clubs with 8 in each & no cache for being in SL1 over SL2.
Both Leagues split at end of regular season & Play Offs a la 8's commence between each league meeting each other to get to a GF or survive relegation.
Bottom of SL relegated, top of Championship promoted.
I might be mental, but to me it works, you get to keep
all current SL Clubs including Salford but add Leigh, Bradford, Toulouse & either Toronto or Halifax. End of season Play Offs adds spice & fresh fixtures for all Clubs & retains interest.
Of course, it ain't gonna happen, but it would be my preference & why not, has anything else been a roaring success ?
While I went off on a tangent there I return to my original point, I hope whichever way it goes that some good can come from this & Salford can regroup, stronger & better placed to be a success in RL, I wish you luck.
