Looks quality. Now, call me arrogant if you wish, but I can't help but think that a city and in particular this city, with a proud history of innovative structural brilliance, (Ship canal, the worlds only inland port, the Lowry etc etc) should have a stadium to better the fine efforts of St Helens. Or are we that beaten up and weary of the whole process that we're happy to put up with an Ikea flat-pack stadium that ticks the RFL's boxes?
I dunno. Happy to be on my own with this one. And after all, I might be mistaken in that the final design is brilliant and beyond current expectations.
I can't see the council wanting a cheap looking stadium that would reflect badly on the city's already, unfairly tarnished image, especially considering the prominent location of it. Further to this I can't imagine Peel Holdings wanting to put there name to something cheap and cheerful because it just isn't their style. Lets face it, it's off the same road as the Trafford Centre and I can't see them building something that would lower the tone of their palatial shopping centre. It's like someone building themselves a multi-million pound mansion and then developing a plot of land over the road and building a shed of place on it. I just can't see this happening.
My understanding is we have the same stadium architects as Saints so hopefully it will look equally impressive when we hopefully see a 3d video of our's.
