Apparently its still going on in Salford, a 5live reporter even said gangs on Langworthy estate are filling up buckets with petrol. Doesn't sound good at all considering they tried setting the precient on fire again before.
I feel for the honest hard working people of salford and manchester last night they should be ashamed of this barbarick act this is not about unemployment or anything like that this is thugs that give are town a bad name. I hope that if these people are supporters of are great club that we do not take them to are new stadium

The Police in Salford and Manchester did a very poor job if you ask me, not using force to stop these criminals and just trying to scare them off by using large numbers and dog squads. All they are bothered about is gathering CCTV evidence and knocking on a load of doors in the coming weeks. If these thugs are trying to burn down their local shopping district the police should be given the right to hit them with batons regardless of there age. They would soon get the picture and grow the f*** up and go home. They where FAR to soft for my liking yesterday, I hope all arrested should be named and shamed in the Salford Advertiser. Lets hope this is the last time this happens in Salford, but I'd image it will happen again sometime in the future.

Can't believe what I saw on the telly last night although am I really that surprised? The scrotes at the centre of all the rioting are not 'misunderstood' they are nasty little scumbags that deserve a kicking, not an arm round their shoulders and a bit of TLC. I spent 4 years working for the Youth Offending Service and saw some extremely sad cases of abused kids etc. However, the reality of the situation was that the majority of the kids that came through our doors were little sh1ts who had no respect for anyone, let alone themselves. All the staff wanted to do was mollycoddle them and look for 'issues' behind their behaviour, when in effect there weren't any, they just wanted to be the 'hard man' or 'gangster'. The Police, parents, teachers have no rights anymore to instil discipline and (some) kids feel they can do whatever they want. I came from a family that never had much but my family taught me right from wrong and when I stepped out of line I was given the slipper! It bl00dy hurt but it taught me respect and I'd like to think I've turned out reasonably ok. If my Dad tried that now he'd be locked up for assault!
I run a football team of 14 year olds and the amount of times some of them have told me to f*ck off is unreal! I wouldn't have dared to say that to any of my Manager's at that age (although it has happened once or twice as an adult ). Kids don't even have to work to get money these days.... at 16 I was working a 12 hour week stacking shelves at Discount Giant to earn £37, now you just have to turn up at College for an EMA handout! Eh, WTF's all that about?
I could go on for hours on the subject but I won't bore you any more. The sooner we bring back discipline the sooner we get back control of our society!
Reading the Metro this morning, two young girls in Croydon were boasting about robbing stuff. One of them said it was the Government's fault, but she wasn't even sure who the Government were. Then she said it was also because "all the rich people have businesses." I don't think that an 89 year old barber is very rich, to be honest. A distinct lack of education and understanding to go along with the underlying problems of being given love all opportunity has led to all this. A lot of them think they're rioting with a justified cause, although a lot of them are just doing it to copy London and grab a few free bits and pieces.
There does need to be firmer action needs taking, but if the dibble start wading in straight away with more force they run the risk of things escalating. More people appear to fight the police, the police turn to even greater force... It's a viscious circle and not a problem than can be solved just by giving the police more weapons. In fact, I dread to think what could have happened if the GMP went into Piccadilly Gardens yesterday firing off rubber bullets, particularly when there were still innocent people around and about.
As for parents not getting away with giving their kids a crack these days... I don't buy that. I know enough parents who can discipline their kids properly who've never got into trouble for it. If the kids are brought up right, they will have respect. The parents not giving a monkeys, for whatever reason, is a major part of the problem. Some of the community work I've seen through FC has brought some wild kids into line, because of the way they're controlled by coaches and other workers.
It's not just a simple answer of cracking a few heads. Society is crumbling in parts of the country and there's got to be a better way of dealing with it than turning the army out, giving the police carte blanche to do what they want and resorting to martial law or a police state. What the answer is, however, is another discussion altogether.

An excellent post and so very true. As for parents not getting away with giving their kids a crack these days... I don't buy that. Looks like the Kaiser Chiefs knew what they were talking about after all...
If we are talking about bands I would say Manic Street Preachers is more appropriate.
If you tolerate this then your children will be next....
Sadly its a small minority of our community where the scumbag parents are actively encouraging their children to rampage out of control as was seen yesterday evening around the precinct.
really p155ed me off when i got there just after 8 this morning to see at first hand the work of the scroats, can I say a massive big thank you to the council staff who were there from about 5.30 this morning cleaning up.
just seen a scroat on BBC saying "lets have a riot, you've got to do it," then a load of racist tripe about them taking our jobs, no they are not, you are unemployable and are wasting somebody else's oxygen.
