It's a bad read, can be expected when you playing people out of position

I take some positives out of the performance...

Yes, we got well beaten by a better side on the day, and I agree with their coach on the BeeB, their defence was excellent and Cats were clinical in the first half .... BUT .... we kept on creating chances and heads didn't drop like they we've all seen happen too often in the past. There's a spirit there in this side that was completely lacking under McCrae.

Clearly there are better teams than Salford at the moment, but this Reds side has more about it than I've seen for a good few years, they are worth supporting & I'll continue to do so (unlike some on this board)

Seen one try on you tube scored by Millard, Holdsworth or Patten couldn't make it out should of bounced him into the Med. Well if PV's the defensive coach he's responsible for getting players defensive qualities right regardless if their playing out of position, communication is key.

Your back are you spouting the usual $hite.
We only had two wingers missing did we
With the small squad we have we will struggle at places like Catalans or any of the other top teams.
All I ask for is effort and a performance from the team.
If you dont want this(which is obvious it is not enough for you) then dont come on here spouting your supposed words of wisdom.

Hmmmm de ja vous. Do you know what the word means? As your implying we were behind away at Catalans in the past.....and it's happening again.

2010 Catalans 14 - 22 City Reds
2011 Catalans 10 - 22 City Reds

So with your pointless comments corrected it isn't a regular occurance is it? and there were no complaints. The lads got on with the game, kept there heads up and scored 2 quick trys near the end.

Your complete lack of faith and support still shocks me. You weren't there so how would you know how the lads were playing ?

A scoring doesn't tell the whole story. Look at Wigan. They played rubbish ( by there standards and only lost by 1 point...

To say the lads thru the towel in so early on again blows a hole in your alleged support.

totally wrong pal

as a neutral, you lot were outplayed by a good side with good back up players to replace the injured lads - Bosc was brilliant at FB and Robinson outcoached PV - don't blame the lack of wingers, the Josh Vievers wing try was brilliantly taken - he looks really nippy
Your big problems were left side with Nero unable to combine to keep out a brace of Blanche tries which set the pattern for the rest of the game - just bad organisation in defence - you looked ok going forward but Fakir,Ferriol & Simon & co stifled any forward movement. Ben Fisher did well as stand in for Hendo.

The Reds never gave up but were simply outplayed and outcoached IMO - a big loss but a lot of positives to take back to the Salford training ground

you can't blame the ref - he was so biased against the Catalans it's not true ! a normal reffing performance would have seen the margin of victory even bigger !

Re: Catalans match thread....... : Mon Mar 12, 2012 9:07 am
The game was played in a strong wind which didn't help the kicking game, but after we scored first we missed up from the kick off due to a wicked bounce and turm of the ball, which resulted in Boyle (i think, 10 hours on the booze before kick off didn't help) hitting the ball into the air only for the wind to take it behind him. We went backwards after that and didn't see the ball for another twenty mins.
Alibert was not his usual friendly self to us they had a run of 6 pens in the first half for stuff both teams were doing, in fact in the twenty min spell Catalan had their line cleared each time by a pen, poor Salford for being caught out.
In the second they kept us out when we had 3 pens on their line includinga real high shot that would normally see a Red, but Alibert didn't have a clue who did what and spoke to teh Catalan captain, with some strong defence and poor decision making keeping us at bay, we lost second half 14 - 12, the final Catalan try coming from our scrum which before it went down Alibert changed his decision to a pen to catalan. A better second 40 but we did have the wind and when we tried the long kick off the ball bounced but instead of carrying on forward the ball stood up and made for a nice easy catch.
The Girona 15 all made it to the game and the trip was a brilliant success, only problem I had was Alibert turned up where i was after the game, in the Restaurant after the match, the cafe bar the following morning and then later that day at Girona Airport and teh same flight.

fair comment - I thought the high tackle near the line was a yellow with another yellow (ossibly red)by Ferriol on the Reds 40m line after he retaliated to a crafty punch unseen by the ref or TJ - the ref only gave a pen in both cases

bad luck with Mr Alibert ! in the restaurant, did he shout MEOOOOVE to the waiter for quicker service ?

Enjoyed the trip as always, first time we have stayed in Girona what a brilliant base lovely bars nice city plenty to see half the price from staying in Perpignan.

Not too disappointed with the result, very good Catalans team really exposed us out wide, most pleasing part was we never let our heads drop & kept making them work hard, two good try's in the second half especially Owen who seems to get better each game.
Most disappointing was the few fans who let the club down again, disrespectful to the Catalans song they sang prior to the game & the vile chants being made to a young group of cheer leaders & throughout the game, embarrassed held my head in shame!

Very surprised the no marks havn't been back on now we've been beaten again, the chance to belittle the team is normally to much to resist.

Wait till Friday night after the match. If we do lose they will be out in force.
