Did this a few weeks ago and have been trying to drum up some support to do it again on good friday. Would need an early start to get all the pubs in, but am defo up for this!

Yes I have done this trip, but what you have to remember is that it is a Bank Holiday and the trains may not be running but a bus replacement service which might take a lot longer.

BF and I have set out on this route several times...


but that the opening times may not allow you to get to the game unless you are very selective: the excellent buffet at Stalyvegas is fall out of train into BUT the pubs in Marsden and Slaithwaite (slowart) asre not and you will need to be very disciplined at Mossley and Saddleworth.

Strongbow ... !!!!

Think I will try this route one day when it will be less busy.

and of course on arriving at Huddersfield there are two real ale pubs there on the station, my favourite is The Head of Steam

Unfortunately I can't stand the taste of lager/bitter/ale so Cider & wine are my tipples. Would love to be a real ale drinker, not least as it's a good quid or so cheaper than drinking fizzy apple juice! Get bl00dy awful heartburn from cider as well

I am a Cider drinker myself but luckily can drink real ale .................
as well as vodka,wine,gin,brandy,bourbon,whisky,port
