The fans, the members, the people there.. from the day I stepped foot onto that field at the AJ Bell Stadium,I knew I would love that club for the rest of my life. "Jackson Hastings"..

One likes people much better when they're battered down by a prodigious siege of misfortune than when they triumph.
Can't wait for the game Friday first of all but one thing has been niggling me lately and that's our own people going on about our crowds, and I mean the people at the top.
We know we are playing brilliantly and do deserve more support but a third of one season is not what it takes to erase the past forty, we all know that but when the Dr. is saying stuff like thanks to the 2,200 and lets see if we can at least match Leigh is starting to Irk.
Just for the record I would love us to have many thousands there, I'm adding the Mrs on to this gate with me and my daughter so you can only do what you can.
However I fear Leigh won't bring as many as some think (still plenty but not X thousand) mainly due to their recent form mixed with ours, not to mention potentially the weather could go against us.
Just as an example I've nicked a quote from a Leigh fan from the VT, and I read on the Leigh board of someone not going because parking is a fiver.
(not going to Salford on Friday, we'll get stuffed) er, and none of my mates are going.....my excuse anyway. :wink
I know this site is dead but any thoughts ? or am I in an empty room ?
Yup it's empty..... everyone over on the DevilTalk forum!
I'm also worried the crowd tomorrow won't be anywhere near what it should. We're flying high in the league, playing great rugby and crowds have gone up markedly, however, they're not going to double overnight. I'm sick of banging on to my mates to come and watch (like myself they're big football fans).... they just have no interest in RL at all. I'm lucky in the fact that I got suckered in by the Junior Devils back in '89.... the rest is history. We just have a massive apathy in Salford around our team. I'm not even buying the ground location excuse any more. It's akin to Utd fans claiming they don't go to Old Trafford "because we can't get tickets". It's utter b0ll0cks and just an excuse because they either can't be ar$ed or they want to save a few quid.
I have season tickets at both Salford Rugby & and Salford City FC. Look at the crowd increases there...... I remember playing in front of 30/40 at Moor Lane in the mid 90's, now they're regularly pulling in 1500+ and if they make the playoffs you can guarantee that will almost double.
Success is the main catalyst for crowd increases, it's not rocket science. The club also has to recreate the old Willows match day experience, solve ground accessibility issues, get into schools etc. Looks like they're doing a lot of this and hopefully this will bring the crowds back. I'd also like to see players regularly at sites like The Lowry, Salford Precinct, Walkden Shopping Centre, plus all the numerous farmer type markets that crop up in places like Eccles and Monton.etc I'd even volunteer to run a stall myself with the clubs backing and I'm sure an hour of the likes of Junior engaging with the public would do wonders. This team deserves 7000+ supporting them week in/week out. They're exciting, committed and have bought into Watson's and the clubs newly found ethos. If we're ever going to succeed as a club the time is now.
Come on all you Salfordians..... get off your fat ar$es and support the team!!

Oh..... and Salford by 20 tomorrow.
I'm hoping Salford are carrying that same confidence. We all know what happens, when thats the case.

Not confidence or arrogance in any way squire.... merely stating my honest opinion based on current form and the 34 players in tomorrow's squads. Funny enough my prediction seems to be similar to what most on your board are saying. And I'd hope there was no over-condidence from the Salford players. Big Easter Derby, potential bumper crowd and a real opportunity to get 2 home points against a team that has struggled in recent weeks after an excellent start.
Not sure if that was a thinly veiled dig at my prediction but I do seem to remember multiple Leythers on this board over the past couple of seasons giving it the big one as you were trampling Championship opposition week on week, stating what you were going to do to SL opposition. So yes, I was looking forward to this fixture when they came out in the hope we could wipe a few smug grins off certain faces.....
Points obviously.... we can't compete with the 100k crowds you get at the LSV every other week...
Safe journey over.... and hopefully a miserable one back afterwards!
Any idea how many tickets you've shifted Starbug, sorry Gubrats?
Usually when we have sold a lot of away tickets i.e. Cas & Wigan this season (nearly 3k for Wigan game) our media department 'boast' about it. But like the Wakefield game (although live on Sky thursday night) there has been no mention of it. Think we have just 3 supporters coaches going, but probably quite a few are going by car. My 'guesstimate' would be about 5/600 Leythers.....MAX

If we had all injuries back in play,I'd be more than confident of a win.As thats not the case it's looking like a grind out task..Something Leigh are very good at.Bring it on...

Shame if you don't head over in numbers with the proximity but understandable there may be a few stay-aways after the recent defeats. I'd hope we bring over 1k to your place in the return fixture as our away support has picked up dramatically (amazing what a few wins will do eh? )
Hopefully the forecasted rain stays away as would help both teams throw the ball about a bit more (tho I assume you'll try and stifle us rather than fight fire with fire?) Just make sure you don't bring a drum..... or else you'll be kicked right back down the Lancs.
