Has anyone been to Elland Road on the train before?
How far from station from is the stadium?

It's about half an hour walk from Leeds station.

most likely there will be shuttle buses to the ground and back , check with metro buses info line .

I very much doubt there will be any shuttles as these are only usually on for Leeds United matches. The options you have from Leeds train station are the following:

Bus: You can catch the 51 & 52 bus from leeds market (5 min walk from train station) and this will drop you off right outside the ground. The other option is to go to Aire Street (right next to the station) and catch the 229 and get off at the junction of Geldard Road and Low Fields Road. Its a short walk down Low Fields Road then under the motorway bridge to the ground.

If you're getting the bus I would suggest the 229, I get this bus every day and it takes 5 mins to get to the ground.


Taxi: If there are 3 or more this would probably be the best option. Search for Amber Cars (they always have 10 cars parked up near the station) on Google and book one. They'll cost about £5 to the ground. The black and whites outside the station will be a little bit more.

Walk: You're looking at a walk of 30 mins probs. The usual way is through Holbeck but I would suggest following Whitehall Road out of town onto Geldard Road.

Other option is to change trains at Hudds or Dewsbury and then catch the local train to Cottingley. Its a 15 min walk to the ground from here (although Cottingley is a bit rough)

I went by train a few years ago by Train and caught a bus pretty easily, but getting back was chaos. No buses came past in nearly an hour and we needed to grab a taxi to make the last train.

Walk out of the station turn right ,walk along Boar lane its about 5 minutes to the Corn Exchange which is a large victorian building with a dome.There you will see people queueing and boarding buses .if you catch a normal service bus 52-53 Morley .there is also a metro office there so you can ask officials for advice

Its not too bad walking back into town about 25 minutes

This was the year when Aus vs NZ played and the rain was absolutely torrential. Not walking weather and it was freezing.

If you have time before the game and want a pint.I usually go in the Templar on Vicar lane .when you get to the Corn exchange turn left up past Kirkgate market up vicar lane,cross the traffic lights at Eastgate then about 50 yards .The Templar is good beer at decent prices and you can get a service bus to the ground right outside ,and you get on the bus before the crowd gets on at corn exchange.Enjoy the game i am envious now
