We need to be a bit careful with the Currie situation and not let home-town bias influence us.
If Currie was a Saints player, and we were linked with signing him, we wouldn't be that excited. We'd be saying stuff like he hasn't been really good since 2016, why are Saints willing to let him sign elsewhere? We'd be suspicious that this would be one of those Wire signings where we pick up a big reputation player whose best days are behind him. Why? Because we'd assume that Saints are ruthless and make tough decisions.
If we sign Currie to an extension, it will be received well on here, everyone will say it's great news, but it will only take 2 games into next season if we start badly and Currie isn't effective, and the inquest will start: why have we kept Price, a top club would have got rid by now; why did we re-sign Currie on the back of having a handful of good games in about 3 years, a top club wouldn't have, we're too nice, we're never going to win a Grand Final unless we're ruthless...
