| Apparently Sandow got £35k final bonuses that was written into his contract to get him something like the £230k per annum he was asking for,....apparently.
After he paid off Leon, he was left with £600...allegedly.
Bought a flight and returned to Aus without anyone knowing...apparently, leaving Bob the kit man knocking on the door of an empty house ahead of taking him to the airport with a ticket already bought by the club for him...apparently.
Other players bonuses were around £5k for the final appearance....apparently!

From what I gather prize money in Super League is something like
CC winner £120k, runner up £55k
GF winner £100k, runner up £50k
LLS £100k
There are no rules as to how much, if any, of that the club have to give to the players or how they distribute it but only prize money is exempt from the salary cap. So you are saying that Sandow had it written into his contract that he would get 11% of the maximum possible prize money (17% of what we actually won)?!!! This tops your statement that Currie would choose to stay with us rather than go to Saints because our prize money will be greater (to save you doing the maths, Saints' money was double that of ours last season).

| The Salary cap interpretation of prize money isn`t limited to appearing in finals or winning trophies.
It also applies to home games Man of the Match prize money, that is awarded by the Match Sponser for that game!!!!!!.......................

Can the club, any club, also apply prize money for teams or individuals doing well in a particular game or having a good season that doesn't show up on the salary cap ? For argument's sake, a player on a grand a week could get 2 grand a week with agreed bonuses but still show £1k against his salary cap?

I stand to be corrected but my interpretation of the rules (section 5.7) is that only prize money centrally controlled by the League can be included (competition winnings, Man of Steel etc). This would be sensible otherwise you have an instant loophole.

Looking back it wasn'y you who mentioned Saints. Your statement was that Currie would have more chance of achieving greater prize money that at another club and based on last season, with the exception of Saints, this would have been true - so my appologies.
The fact remains that the days of 'work-arounds' such as agreed prize money, win bonuses, employing a player's spouse, defferred payments, image rights etc are all long gone.

Hey no need to apologise to me friend. You’ve done me no wrong. I can’t prove that Sandow’s £230k ish demand was met by way of part bonus top up promise, but it makes sense. If you think about it why offer him £230k done and then pay him bonuses on top when that then becomes far in excess of what he’d had currently been on in the NRL?
It was a player that revealed the amount he received as a bonus and what he was left with after paying off a debt(ahem).
As with Currie, he will know how much a club will have to stump up to out do his contract offer with the likelihood of bonuses before excepting.
