Westwood will get a bigger ban. Difficult to argue lack of intent when you're screaming at a bloke you've just knocked unconscious on the floor.
Fakir's was a bad shot too, but Westwood's behaviour afterwards was a disgrace.
I haven't seen an angle yet to show him screaming at him. I saw him leant over him, I wondered if he knew it was bad, ie, heard his head hit the floor as he was out etc, leant over him, and before he could do anything else, plenty of bodies came in pushing & shoving etc.

I've made this point JWP, but people are ignoring it. I genuinely think he realised he had knocked him unconcious and leaned over to look at his face. You see his hand near his head, and that would ordinarily have been a facial, you can see that he realises something is wrong.
The fact that the commentators said he was having a word, despite the fact the view was off the top of Westwood's head is enough for most people to slag him off.
The tackle was a bad one, and I thought he should have been red carded, but the injury was unfortunate, and as has been mentioned there were some other tackles which need to be looked at.
The morons on here who have accused Westwood of spitting need to be 100% sure before they start spouting off on here.Even though i watched the match i did not see any spitting whatsoever. What player in their right mind would do such a vile act in front of 8,000 fans not to mention being on camera. Those of you who are still unsure i say watch the incident again then when the mist has cleared from your spectacles you can come back on here to apologise if your man enough.
"Remember last time they were here, the Huddersfield Giants, they lost to a Luke Walsh drop goal. He's only scored four drop goals in his St Helens career has Luke Walsh and each and every one of them have been scored by Luke Walsh"
Not condoning Westwood, but I remember there were one or two hits before Westwoods that looked high (I'm sure the Sky clowns commented on at least one of them) so I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a degree of retaliation from Westwwod, which would be backed up by his shouting after the hit (if that's what happened - it appeared to be).
Even so, I would be surprised if Westwood gets more than four games, and to be honest I think four games would be just about right.
I would be equally surprised if Fakir gets anything at all despite the only real difference between Westwoods hit and his was Morley wasn't knocked out (although it would appear that ultimately Morley has probably come out of it worse than Carlaw).
I know it shouldn't get to me, but I'm still livid with Stevo and his reaction to Westwoods hit when compared to his "he didn't miss did he" comment on Fakirs hit.
he jumped up and swung at his head. It wasnt mis-timed it was on purpose. After this he did rant at the guy on the ground. I really dont know how you can defend him TBH.
Think you are out of order with this post. You say he did it on purpose, but don't take into account that Westwood's head is well to the side, so he is not looking at the player he is tackling. Westwood tackles like this a lot, he has a very aggressive style and often jumps off the ground, hitting them around the chest and putting themon their ar$e. Last night, it was mis-timed and it was a reckless tackle, rather than intentional. 4 matches for me.
I still haven't seen any evidence of him sledging the player. Have you?

I think there is a little bit of selective viewing on your part (and a few others), if you can't spot Westwood's 'reaction' to his assault.
Immediately after the incident you can quite clearly see Westwood shouting in the fellow's ear.....If you seriously believe he is just enquiring to the guy's wellbeing, then you are as deluded as I first thought...
Admittedly, Westwood soon realises the damage he has done, but nothing can condone the initial assault and reaction....Any guilt he feels is mixed with the knowledge he has been well and truly 'caught on camera'.

You can't 'quite clearly' see it, that is the point. I have no doubts whatsoever that if he was sledging he would have given him the facial, but he held his hand back, and I read that as he realises something is wrong.
Westwood is rough and oversteps the mark at times, but it isn't clear on th TV pictures. Do they still release the disciplinary statements, as it will be interesting to know whether he did or not, and whether that is a factor in his ban.
