Re: Myler : Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:33 pm
Similar disappointments have happened to Sinfield and McGuire at Leeds when they were about the same age.

I'm sure they used it as a motivation going forward. I think McGuire scored 38 tries the following season - money now on Myler to be top scorer next year.

It must be devestating for Richie at the moment but I'm sure he will have the opportunity again in the not too distant future.

Lets not forget Mike Cooper has missed out as well despite his excellent recent form.

Re: Myler : Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:42 pm
Seems I'm in the minority on here but I think Smith has got a terribly difficult decision correct.

Myler is already a very good player with years of improvement still ahead of him, but I have yet to see him display enough composure and correct decision-making when under pressure. Combine that with his organisational skills not yet being that of a top class half-back and I completely understand why this choice has been made.

I don't believe it's any deficiency in Myler's defensive technique that's contributed significantly to this. I'm far more worried about Senior running against Briers than I was about Delaney against Myler.

Expect to see Clarke at half-back more than Monaghan.

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Re: Myler : Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:46 pm
Well, I got that completely wrong.

Regardless of the result tomorrow, I hope there's no knee jerking e.g. if we lose; Smith blew it, or, if we win; end of Myler's career.

One thing is absolutely certain; we're going to find out very soon just how serious this 'team' ethic is. If that means anything at all, win or lose tomorrow, how the players react to it in the coming weeks is going to be very revealing. I should say that the fact that I'm unsure about the call is no reflection on the players who got the nod, I'm sure they'll do us proud.

I would play Myler but what do I know, less than Smith, that's for sure. Hope I'm wrong again.

You have got to hand it to Mr Smith he is not afraid to make a decison which he feels is correct.
When Mr Smith first came here wasn't Lee Breirs dropped and rumours that he would be moving on, and then we sold Martin Gleeson.

Very surprised by this. Personally I think you look a much better team with Monas at 9. From what i've seen of the 3 players Myler would be in my team before both Clarke and Higham aswell, cant understand this decision & it could end up costing you...

He could just stay in his hotel room and sulk but fair play to him he's not and he's taking it all in with the other players.

I'm siding with you, Yed. I think this could be his biggest mistake as Warrington coach so far. I think he has been to complacent with certain teams so far with resting players when they didn't need to be (Catalan away as a prime example) but to drop Myler, which means that the league's potential best hooker is playing scrum half, is a huge brain explosion.

Pray to God I'm wrong by 4.15pm tomorrow.
