Remaining 1 year I think. Ends 2024.

Can't see him coming back.

Hope he remembers to take his passport with him. Space Cadet, good riddance.

So unprofessional that wasn't it. Hard to overlook even if he was an asset to the team and not an overpaid carthorse given a very generous contract.

The only way King comes back is if Powell is sacked and the new coach that comes in wants him.

I mentioned on another thread a few weeks ago that the comments that Matty Peat came out with when we signed Nicholson were only a day or so after we had agreed the loan / swap with Wardle and King.
At the time it appeared like quite a strong rant about an 18 year old that had played one game. So maybe there was a bit more behind it and we had inadvertently screwed up wigans plans for Wardle

I never had a problem with King when he was here so wish him the best of luck at Wigan.
Some strange parallels here. Didnt Hardaker end up on the outer at Wigan because he didnt want to get the coach back to Wigan after a game in Yorkshire.

The Hardaker bus situation did happen however that was not the reason he was moved on. It was one of a number of minor issues prior to a major issue that happened when he was back home and out in his beloved Pontefract.

Well suddenly Wigan fans think he's Mal Meninga. 'Best centre in SL a few years ago and now playing well at Huddersfield' was one quote - I mean there's deluded and there's outright blind.

I liked the Warrington Guardian's cheeky dig. 'Wardle 4 tries in 6 games, King 1 in 8'. One is playing for a struggling side, the other at the top end of the table.

King will be playing on his natural side on the right with Wardle playing on the left I would expect.

Both criticised by their parent clubs fans when moved to the opposite sides from their natural position on the other sides of the pitch.

You don’t go from being a very good prospect like King was to having a dip in form like he did in 21.

Most seem to go with the easy option that this was down to his new contract, I’m more inclined to believe it is due to him being switched sides away from the right.

Most Wigan fans had identified the centre position as the biggest issue within the squad.

I thought that we would need 2 off seasons to resolve that however it seems we may have done it in 1.

We’ll be paying lots of King’s wages as well as Cooper’s for now. We’ve probably thrown Wigan a few quid to overturn their signing of Wardle too.

It’s win win all round, we get improvements in both areas with Vaughan and Wardle and we keep money in the game by giving a skint club some money to sign another one of our Academy players.

I'm not sure where you've heard that we're paying a lot of Kings wages next season, but that isn't true ? Wigan are paying his full wage, although he has taken a pay cut from what he was earning from his Warrington contract.

Fair point, I've no idea how it works - I assumed with him being on loan he would still be under his Warrington contract and receiving those wages one way or another. He must've taken a fair old pay cut considering what we were paying him.

So Wigan have now signed two Wire academy products in the last 2 months despite criticising our academy for years. Interesting.
