The Wire seem to be developing a culture of dredging the pond for any bodies that are left even after mid table teams have scouted & signed the better players.
We obviously need better scouts for a start & work on attracting the better players then we can at least be entertaining.

Well as mentioned earlier, the landscape has shifted in that barring the exceptions, most SL clubs are now waiting for NRL teams to get to the end of their season, and see who has salary cap issues and which players get squeezed out. This causes availability and then the opportunity to squeeze wages (a bit)

This was my immediate reaction.

He does have half a point though, we need to be getting better value out of the players outside the obvious high quality signings as unfortunately (for us) because of the salary cap we cannot fill our squad with Charnleys, Austins and Widdops.

For us that means a focus on youth so we are bringing through more players of higher quality, and better talent ID for the mid to lower level salary earners that we bring in to the squad.

I don't to be honest and i think he's a bit overhyped, yeah he's a good winger with a high score rate but alot of that comes from the quality players outside him. Lineham when his head is screwed on and he's focused is better than Charnley in my oppinion, Not saying he's not a great winger because he is, but he's defo over hyped.
I agree with ninearches and what he's saying, we'll sign 1 quality player then a bunch of players seemingly scraped from whoevers available.

Tbh i wait to be electrified. The effectiveness of Widdop all depends on his continuing fitness . He could be another Gary Wheeler leaving Austin to operate as a lone halfback for another season.
